Fans have chosen their collective Newcastle team v Chelsea – Some big moves

Yesterday we asked you the question…Which 11 players would you pick in Newcastle team v Chelsea?

We put together a list of the 21 players who could potentially be selected on Saturday afternoon.

Paul Dummett, Christian Atsu, and Jamaal Lascelles, all left out of our list after Rafa confirmed they were still not ready to come back.

Some very interesting movement from what Newcastle fans chose four days ago for West Brom.

Five players get 92% or better fan support, with Tuesday’s goalscoring skipper Ciaran Clark (96%) top of the lot, closely followed by Merino (95%), Shelvey (94%), Ritchie (94%) and Lejeune (92%).

Chancel Mbemba did well against West Brom and his support (some voting for centre-back as well as the majority seeing him at centre-back) has grown to 88% from 75%, whilst Maquillo is down on 20%

Mbemba’s one-time Anderlecht teammate, Aleksandar Mitrovic sees his popularity rise yet again after doing ok when coming off the bench on Tuesday, rising from 70% to 83%.

Despite being involved in both goals conceded at The Hawthorns, fans see no real alternative to DeAndre Yedlin (78%).

Karl Darlow looks set to keep the keeper’s jersey after a decent return to the team, going from 30% to 63%, whilst Rob Elliot goes the opposite way – 69% to 26%.

Rolando Aarons also did a decent job when coming off the bench in midweek, his popularity growing to 63% from 44%, whilst a below average showing from Murphy sees him drop from 62% to 36%.

The final space in the Newcastle team v Chelsea picked by fans, sees an extra midfielder picked ahead of a striker, maybe it would have been the other way around if at home and/or weaker looking opposition.

Support is stead for Isaac Hayden (59% to 58%) but Dwight Gayle drops from 64% to 47% after sitting out the West Brom match.

Poor old Joselu once again laboured in midweek but does see a ‘leap’ in support from 5% to 7%.

Interesting to see how many changes Rafa Benitez makes this time, having mixed things up with five players replaced at West Brom.

Here is the percentage support for each player from the thousands of votes cast and in brackets the fan support/vote for the team selection v West Brom on Tuesday, then an image of how this fan selected team would potentially look:
