We asked you the question yesterday…Which 11 players would you pick in your Newcastle team v Manchester City?

We put together a list of the 21 players who could potentially be selected on Wednesday night at St James Park.

Jesus Gamez and Aleksandar Mitrovic out injured with Florian Lejeune almost certain to miss as well.

Eight players got 81% fan support or better, with Jamaal Lascelles (97%) topping the voting.

Elliot (95%), Ritchie (93%) and Clark (93%) were next, with Yedlin (91%) also polling over 90% support.

Man of the match at West Ham, Christian Atsu (88%) was next, whilst despite not getting a goal against the Hammers, Dwight Gayle (85%) looked sharp in his all round game.

Mikel Merino (81%) missed that game with a knock but still rated highly, however, there is a squeeze on the centre of midfield.

Whilst Merino rates highest, Henri Saivet (63%) is next best with his goal and decent display last Saturday. Jonjo Shelvey (53%) is back from suspension and just squeezes into the fans team, whilst Isaac Hayden (33%) is also set to be available but is way back in fourth choice for the centre of midfield.

Joselu (52%) gets recognition for his improved displays in the last couple of matches, stepping up from 285 support.

Defenders Mbemba (45%) and Dummett (41%) just miss out, leaving a rather lopsided fans choice of team as it only includes three defenders – Lascelles, Clark and Yedlin. Henri Saivet seemingly squeezing an extra defender out of the first eleven.

Mohamed Diame does see his popularity rise but only from 2% to 13% after his goal and performance at the London Stadium, as compared to Henri Saivet who rises up from only 5% to that 63% figure.

Here is the percentage support for each player from the thousands of votes cast and in brackets the fan support/vote for the team selection v West Ham last Saturday:

” … leaving a rather lopsided fans choice of team as it only includes three defenders …” Says it all about the value of this format. The team selector tool was a much better option – people put more thought into the formation. It`s also difficult to be too accurate when you don`t really know who`s fit and who isn`t (leaving aside whether or not it`s true). Then there`s the importance of the next three games and the strong liklihood that we`ll get tonked in this one anyway. PLUS, of course, the Rafa factor!

      Pity Mitro`s not fit
      😂😂😂

So basically Rafa has chosen the total opposite based on what I’ve just seen.

SloMo has kept his place though….Saivet doesn’t even make the bench. Was Mo that much better on Saturday or is it just he was bought by the current manager
