Rafa’s strategy – drop your best players and confuse the opposition with a line-up that defies description. It certainly confuses me.

If this works, then Rafa’s genius will be beyond doubt!

    • TheNutJob

I`ll hail him as dead lucky
      😂😂

      • Wor Lass

I`ve changed pubs for tonight – just in case it brings the lads a bit of luck. They`re going to need it. Good to see aarons get a run out – City`ll be quaking at the memory!

        • TheNutJob

          Pep will be bricking it

    • hetonmag

The team has been chosen with the Brighton game in mind, and any way it doesn’t matter which team Rafa sends out the keyboard manager’s on this forum would no doubt be able to pick a better team.

      • BenMagpie

Well said. Who would have thought the team selection on Saturday would beat West Ham.

        • Damon Horner

Yep, never beaten until the whistle goes for FT. Howay the lads!

        • Scooter

like West ham aren`t Barcelona mate or don`t you look at the table

  • Mitros gotta start

Happy to see aarons get a chance

    • TheNutJob

if he scored a hat trick he`ll still be sold

  • TheNutJob

thank go Sane`s on the bench in his last 2 games he`s caused havoc on the wing.
where`s Saivet the saviour, to quote the chron

  • Gary McCarron

Ok so the missus has asked if we can watch a horror tonight, we have a choice The Omen or Toon v City?

  • Wor Lass

One or two people have a chance to knocck on the door tonight. The important games sart on Saturday.

    • Scooter

knocck, knocck. you been drinking ?

  • Scooter

there`s 7 good players in the Newcastle team which is about par for the course considering the squad we have

  • Andy Mac

    I’m thinking 3-4-1-2 ?
    Mbemba, Lascelles and Dummett
    Yedlin, Diame, Shelvey, Manquillo,
    Murphy
    Aarrons, Joselu

    Could be wildly wrong ?

    • Scooter

5 at the back, 3 central defenders 2 fullbacks

  • Kev-82

When you look at the bench thinking that’s the best bench I’ve seen us with in a long team, then you realise it’s so strong as they aren’t in the starting XI. I’d rather play a 451 with a more defensive midfield than a 5 man defence with little protection in front of them.

    • Damon Horner

Dummett in CB and Mbemba in CM? I can see this being 4-5-1.

    • TheNutJob

i thought he would have went 4-5-1 and tried to stifle the midfield

  • 1957

The idea that Diame would be sold in January was nonsense, he is simply a Benitez favourite, SloMo keeps his place Saivet doesn’t even make the bench.

I don’t see Mo and Shelvey being able to cope with the City central midfield, or will Benitez spring a surprise and play Mbemba in central midfield as well.

  • Shipcote Willy

Looks like the manager has an eye on Brighton on Saturday with tonight’s selections. Most of tonight’s bench will probably play then. Hope we don’t get mauled too badly.

  • DC1964

This is taking parking the bus to another level!!!!

  • 1957

Kompany is injured and they replace him with a forward, obviously don’t see a risk of us scoring. I don’t know what the record for the least possession in a PL game is but we are going to break it tonight…

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

5 corners in 18 minutes… they’re on pace for 25 for the game

  • Alreet

Totally get the selection feom rafa. Total speed merchants in murphy and aarons. Get the ball away quick if we can. Everyone else hands on deck.

    • TheNutJob

we cant get out of our own half, we can`t even string a couple of passes together

      • Alreet

Just need to stick to our plan and keep the score respectable.

        • TheNutJob

          aye

      • 1957

Their goalkeeper has spent most of the game 10-15 metres outside of his box…we’re playing 5-5-0 at the moment

  • Andy Mac

Let’s face it whichever lineup Rafa came up it was doomed to failure by social media. This is the most expensive squad in football around £800m and slightly more than PSG.

It’s not a level playing field and if Citeh dont win the league it’ll be the most shocking event since Jacko was found brown bread at Neverlands

    • TheNutJob

they win it by the biggest margin ever

  • TheNutJob

    88% to Man C
    😂😂😂

    • Alreet

Their average over the season has been around 73% in all games.

      • TheNutJob

        top players

  • Alreet

The draw is 11s atm. Get a quid on🤣🤣

  • Leicester Mag

What is the point in this tactic?

    • Andy Mac

Soz LM but please refer to my previous comment. There are no players in NUFC’s squad right now who could possibly take a game to Citeh !

If Rafa had a 15 goal striker to focus their attention then maybe things could have been different ? Imagine Pep’s pre game tactical discussion. “Right lads they’ve got nowt so go fill your boots”

    • GToon

I think it’s try and keep it tight then have a go in the last twenty mins or so.

      • DC1964

Definitely. Bit like the Arsenal game.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

this match is about as fun as a kick in the crotch.

    • Kneebotherm8

Most of citys opponent’s have felt that way this season.

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

that tends to happen when it’s 11 men against the wealth of an entire country

        • Kneebotherm8

          Too true….

    • Alreet

Yep. 7-0 or park the bus and 2-0.

  • Andy Mac

OK so what would you prefer ? Attacking play and the occasional shot on target and a 0-8 result or backs to the wall, five in defence and 0-4 ?

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

raheem sterling celebrates every goal like he just won the champions league final in extra time. it could be against a conference side up 12-0 and he’d be completely losing his head over an open goal tap in.

    • GToon

I was at an echo and the bunnymen concert when he’d asked to leave and join citeh. McCullough, the Liverpool supporting lead singer went on a hilarious rant about him in between one of the songs. Lol.

      • DC1964

One of my favourite bands ever. Ian McCulloch certainly had a gob on him!!

        • GToon

Yeah it was really funny. The concert was in Manchester. The first couple of songs went by and he didn’t say much. I knew he’d have to say something and sure enough he started with comparing the two cities saying both had just one great football team in them then he turned to sterling…. hilarious. I can’t say what he said on this site but he suggested that citeh could have him and and wished him all the best! Haha.

          • DC1964

I can imagine what he said!!!

  • Tino o

Gary Neville a crawling snivelling [email protected]

    • Andy Mac

You’ll find no alternative opinion on this site !

    • TheNutJob

      he`s a snake

    • GToon

Does he not understand that if 1.2 billion was invested in our club we might be able to go toe to toe with them. What a clown.

    • Leicester Mag

His attempt to claim Murphy should have got a red card was a disgrace. Lost all credibility when a joke in Spain

      • GToon

Bit like that de Jong challenge on HBA that resulted in no free kick to us and a broken leg for Benny.

      • Tino o

That comment was a a total disgrace I’m sure the fa will look at it now and agree with the Manc [email protected] he does work for sky and he will be banned. Wouldn’t it be a Christmas miracle and interesting to hear him make even more of a [email protected] of himself if we turned it around and won

        • Wor Lass

I don`t think the FA can look at an incident where the ref made a judgement on the pitch. He saw it and gave a free kick and that should be the end of it. Mind, if that had been a city player on one of ours we would all have been saying red card.

  • TheNutJob

hold them until 70mins & put Gayle & Merino on

    • Andy Mac

      Aye and batter them ?

  • SM68

Struggling with what I’m hearing tonight on the TV. I’d like Neville to explain why we are “embarrassing” for playing defensively but Jose was ok to park the bus v City at home in a game Man Utd had to win to have any chance of the league. Pathetic pundity – what do you want us to do – play 4 up top???

    • Virsino

      He’s a beIIend, closest thing I’ve seen to a pu$$y, that wasn’t an actual pu$$y.

      • GToon

I think he’s going to say that about any team that doesn’t take a point off citeh. It’s almost as if he wanted the other Manchester team to win the league.

        • Virsino

          True that!

    • Phil

Couldn’t agree more!! Even my lass is sick of him and she na’s nowt!!
No other team has played this defensively against city all season? I’m sure they have Gary. And as other teams have found if you don’t you tend to get hammered. Their squad is worth over a billion probably. Not much we can do! If we attacked them he would say… Not sure what Newcastle are doing here. They are asking for trouble!
Would not get bored of punching Gary Neville!!

      • SM68

big opinions little c*ck – according to Keane’s book anyway. Life’s a great leveller!

  • GToon

And to think if Joselu had a bit more of Shearer about him it would be 1-1.

    • TheNutJob

brilliant chip from Aarons he was unlucky

  • Gary McCarron

I sort of get the tactics….just, but ffs show some passion

  • Phil

Passion in what way? Tackles flying in etc? If so…. We can’t get near them!! Haha

  • Megatron1505

Is nobody going to mention Walkers blatant hand ball in the box before Aaron’s chip?

    • Kev-82

Maybe as it missed his hand I’m guessing not.

  • Scooter

    Joselu is just terrible

    • 1957

And even allowing for the quality of the opposition SloMo is and embarrassment…can’t run, tackle or pass

      • TheNutJob

        Dwights on

      • GToon

I won’t have that! He passed to their players twice and it was him who tackled our player to allow De Bruyne to have a shot against the post. Don’t underestimate the contribution Diame makes…….for the opposition.

  • Gary McCarron

Why don’t the groundsmen take the opportunity to cut the grass on the gallowgate half of the pitch?

    • Andy Mac

Or paint the lines and rearrange the adverts so they’re all pointing at the other half ?

Did we think we’d get a result ? No so let’s just keep it sensible and go again on Saturday !

      • TheNutJob

wor kid said they could graze the cows off Nuns moor in Citees half

  • Andy Mac

Watford lost 0-6, Palace lost 0-5 even bliddy RBD;s lost 0-5. At the end of the season GD may make a difference.

    • Gary McCarron

Yeah, let’s take the ball into the corner and keep it there for 30 minutes

      • Andy Mac

Gary I didnt say I like it I’m just being practical ! How much would a 0-6 result do for team morale ?

        • Gary McCarron

I know, the trouble is it looks like we can’t put two passes together

          • Andy Mac

Yup the pressure tells. Your mind says “we’ve got no chance” so fear plays a major factor.

          • TheNutJob

            we can`t

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

if it meant that this exercise in futility would only end 0-1 I’m all for it

        • Kneebotherm8

I’ll settle for the same scoreline down there.

  • TheNutJob

Gayle is now on for the Hoss

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

only a matter of time before we see Perez too…

    • TheNutJob

      😂😂😂

  • TheNutJob

Merino on, time to go for a goal

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

“75′ Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United) has gone down, but that’s a dive.” Thank you for that, ESPN. Try and show a bit less of your contempt for Newcastle.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

In 2 years, they went from having an individual blogger for every team in the EPL to completely stopping coverage of sides out of the top 7. Might as well not even exist.

    • Andy Mac

      If he’d not dived ?

    • GToon

He should have had a shot though. Shame.

  • TheNutJob

Pep`s put a centre back on for Sergio, we got him worried

  • TheNutJob

The boys are up for it

  • DC1964

This is just like the Arsenal game, have a go in the last ten minutes!

    • Virsino

…but at least we are in with a chance in the last ten minutes

      • DC1964

We are, the same as Arsenal away when Perez could have scored in the last minute.

  • TheNutJob

Rafa & rope a dope tactics
    😂😂

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

there’s a decent case to be made that he’s outmanaged Pep today. But you’d have to scheme ten times as well to completely overcome the skill gap between the two sides.

      • TheNutJob

        true

  • Phil

Gary nevilles managerial career lasted how long??

    • Kneebotherm8

      Too long……..

  • TheNutJob

at least we can say we had them worried for 15mins

    • Dave Knight

True, not many can say that against City. It was a negative performance, but Rafa is working with what he has. Truth is, at just 1-0, there’s always a chance. We actually had a few chances too. Call it what you will, Rafa’s game plan (as negative as it was) did work.

      • TheNutJob

        yes it did

      • Virsino

Don’t be surprised is you see plenty of teams try to copy that game-plan!

  • TheNutJob

Citee will win the league by 20 pts

  • GToon

That’s what happens when you come up against the wealth of a whole country. Still having said that if they were made to play with Diame in their team we would have won!

  • Gary McCarron

Winston Churchill turning in his grave

    • Virsino

      Don’t forget Dunkirk!!!

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

so this is what it’s come to. pulling for Arsenal tomorrow…

    • TheNutJob

      😂😂
      Tragic

  • TheNutJob

    SloMo to the Mackems

    • 1957

They aren’t that desperate and in any case Benitez won’t sell him

  • Mrkgw

Unfortunate. The substitutions changed things for the better and we looked much more offensive albeit, Mbemba had a decent game. Gayle looked sharp, as did Atsu. Only difference which might have worked from the outset would have been Ritchie instead of Murphy latter of which for me, offers little and is too raw for the first team. Sadly, Aarons looks to have lost a yard or two of pace though, he has been out for ages. No disgrace in that result at the end of the day.

    • TheNutJob

He`s saving the lads for Brighton

      • Mrkgw

        Hope so matey. Will see.

      • Rev

You mean he will make another four changes and bring in perez, diame and joselu plus the usual ‘surprise’…. and surprise everyone by sitting deep, having 30% posession, make substitutions on 70 mins then go for it on 85 mins when the game is lost?

        • Wor Lass

I hate to break it to you, m8, but Diame and Joselu both started last night.

    • Wor Lass

I`d say Ritchie is crucial for the Brighton game and he would have been happy to miss this one, have a rest and be ready for his old club.

  • Alreet

Bar a sexy pass to sterling and a lucky finish we could have had a draw. Lots of positives tonight. The team work and atsu impact could set us up for a good win against brighton.

It was always gonna be a loss but always about how many and it wasnt all bad.

Rafas tactics almost worked against the form team in europe.

    • DC1964

Yep, could have snatched a draw through Gayle near the end.

      • Alreet

That was painfull. Was about to wake the dead if that went in.

        • DC1964

Ha, I know, I thought it was creeping in. Atsu was excellent when he came on, as he was against West Ham. He needs to start against Brighton, I think we will win that game.

    • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Everybody was slagging Rafa’s park the bus type tactics, but it was obvious really – and he left it til they tired a little to press

      • TheNutJob

he had no option but to park the bus against that lot

      • Alreet

That pass from merino. Half a yard less pace and gayle is in

  • Rev

Anyone thinks we are going to succeed with Rafa is bonkers. Seriously is everyone going to keep turning up week after week to watch us try not to score and when we lose more than we win say blame Ashley. Allardyce, Pulis etc. get slaughtered for their tactics but they win points, Rafa is doing the best he can with a poor squad. Give over. We are on the way to becoming the most boring hated team in football, how is that a plan?

  • BenMagpie

Tactic was to bore them to death for 70 then chance our arm. I think it was the right tactic to be fair. Our goal this season is to survive. As tight as this league is, goal difference may be crucial, and Rafa knows that. And at one goal down theres always a chance to nick something. Gayle almost got one.

  • TheNutJob

Goals against count in this league, to hold them to 1 is a good result

    • Alreet

Totally. Considering spurs shipped 4 and pool 5

      • TheNutJob

could keep us safe come May

      • Kneebotherm8

And Watford 6 and Stoke 7……….they’re a very capable team who could have hit us for half a dozen,no bother if we’d went gung ho.

  • TheNutJob

we pressed them in the last 15, but being the Toon we never get the rub of the green

    • DC1964

Yep, we could have snatched a draw in the end.

      • TheNutJob

i think they got a shock in those 15 mins

        • DC1964

Makes you wonder if we should have played the whole second half like that.

    • BenMagpie

our twelfh man was the crowd, theirs was the referee.

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

The penny has finally dropped for even the commentary team in the stadium and in the studio that this was the day “THAT FOOTBALL IN ENGLAND DIED” !
There is no point to watching any games in The Premiership because it is all about money and players being terrified to play as a result of it.
As said by Gary Neville if your not in the top six then there is no desire shown to win a game by the so called also ran clubs.
I would have rather seen Newcastle get beat 6-0 going out on their shield trying as watch that turgid non event which had the semblance of something that used to be football 25 years ago.

I would suggest that people go out and support your local non league sides because at least it would be real and not that fakery that now passes off as sport !

    • TheNutJob

Tv money has killed the game

      • Geordiegiants

Nothing to do with that game though.

    • Geordiegiants

Well I and others think it was a good tactic as goal difference makes a difference come the end of the season funnily enough, we aren’t here to advertise the league we are here for self preservation. Gary Neville is a [email protected]

      • X,WHY,Y MAN.

If you think that is in the spirit of what football should be then I feel sorry for you.

        • Geordiegiants

I worry about Newcastle United. That is it, I couldn’t give a fly f what Neville or anyone else thinks, if we had of knocked an equaliser in I’m sure your tune would of been different.

          • Wor Lass

            Exactly.

          • X,WHY,Y MAN.

You should because give it 20 years and you will not have the game of football left in this country.
Even the people who work for sky can now see it for what it is.
You insult Gary Neville but at least the man played the game and knows what he is talking about.

          • Geordiegiants

I never insulted him at all. I’ll say it again my only concern is Newcastle.

          • BenMagpie

to be fair you did call him a [email protected] But also to be fair he is one. We did the best we could with our resources. And we almost nicked an equalizer.

          • Geordiegiants

Well that’s what I meant, it’s not an insult to him that. 😁

          • Wor Lass

I`d say calling Gary Neville a [email protected] is pretty much a compliment. He`s way worse than that.

          • X,WHY,Y MAN.

He knows more than the lot of you put together regardless if you like him or not.

          • Wor Lass

He is, surprisingly, a brilliant pundit but he`s a bitter and twisted person. He`s been there and done it as a player but failed as a manager. He`s no more qualified to say whether or not the lads did their best than I am. You need to get yourself over to the stadium of sh*te asap.

          • X,WHY,Y MAN.

He only played the game professionally for years at the highest level and represented his country so he is more than qualified imo.

          • Wor Lass

Are you Clarko in disguise? Genuine question because you`re spouting the same sort of formulaic stuff. “Oh, he played footaball so he must know more about it”. Well I played football to a reasonable local level for years and I`ve watched it at all levels for just as long. I`m as qualified as Gary “miserable manc” Neville to comment on whether or not a team is trying it`s hardest. If his opinion is so all-encompassingly correct then why don`t you just shut up and leave it to him?

          • X,WHY,Y MAN.

You want to say nothing because you have had your jacksy run off Footymad, The Chronicle etc for being a complete knacker !

          • Wor Lass

Footymad? Never heard of it. I post regularly on the Chronic and always have.

          • X,WHY,Y MAN.

The man who used to extol the virtues of Mike Ashley on a daily basis lol

          • Wor Lass

            Duh?

          • Virsino

‘in your opinion’, and guess what, nobody is moaning at you for having YOUR opinion, so, do us all a favor and don’t be a [email protected] with us for having ours.

          • Wor Lass

            Nice reply.

          • Kneebotherm8

            Fair comment….

          • Alreet

Well he has been in the game since he was about 12 and managed by fergie. Its not to deny he knows a bit but the way he puts it across and his drawl is just painfull and boring.

          • Kneebotherm8

His brother Phil is more painful and boring, that doesn’t say a lot for Gary like.

          • Virsino

…by that argument, he should be a great manager. Oops, don’t tell me, he was a failure? LOL

          • Kneebotherm8

Yeah he’s a better pundit than a manager,he speaks like he knows all the answers but give him a managers job to put his thoughts into practice and what happens??????………….

          • Geordiegiants

Ha ha about weighs him up perfectly.

        • Virsino

That’s pathetic, feeling sorry for someone because they don’t see things from your opinion of how $hit should stink. I love a good game of chess.

          • X,WHY,Y MAN.

What is pathetic is people like you who think what passes off as football this day and age is acceptable.
It’s not just at Newcastle but across the whole league where this is now happening.

          • Virsino

            Don’t be so stupid.

By your argument, anyone who cannot compete with Usain Bolt is not a sprinter.

You sir are the pathetic one. Good day to you!

          • X,WHY,Y MAN.

So you are saying that this is a lone view by myself when everyone is that studio and commentary box that knows what they are talking about are wrong in what they are saying about looking at the bigger picture ?

          • nufcslf

Exactly. Ever noticed how every match looks exactly the same. I am pig sick that prem is just a league of small individual league tables. Top 4 or 5, 2 in the middle and bottom 4 or 5. Not a great deal of entertainment and strikes me as pathetic.

      • nufcslf

One win in 11 with this tactic is going to get uou relegated.

        • Geordiegiants

          We will see.
What do you expect us to be doing with these players?

          • nufcslf

I agree, but if tactics only end in defeat it is time to try something new especially at home.

          • Kneebotherm8

What makes you think we’ve got the players and tactics to beat this City team?

          • nufcslf

I honestly don’t. I’ve thought straight back down the minute Cashley starved funds for Rafa last summer. I didn’t think any differently with the unexpected start to the season and without money spent to strengthen in January nothing changes. On the other hand, I would expect any home to with a noisy crowd behind them to have a go at any team, top or bottom. I also have absolutely no problem being proved wrong. Here’s hoping for as close to maximum points from the next 3 matches and the end of fatty to go with it.

    • nufcslf

All I saw was 5 home losses on the trot and well defended at that. City should have been out of sight before the huff smd puff at the end. Dreadful and hss killed football in my mind as well.

  • 1957

Thought Atsu looked dangerous when he came on and Merino gave us some control.

    • TheNutJob

Rafa had to keep them back for Saturday, that`s a 6 pointer

    • DC1964

Both need to start against Brighton

      • TheNutJob

        they will

      • 1957

If they don’t it will be Benitez most bizarre selection to date…what price Merino being partnered in midfield by SloMo though

        • Kneebotherm8

Surprised Merino didn’t start in place of Shelvey tonight,he’s a better player when we’re not in possession of the ball, which was most of the game.

  • Wor Lass

The lads followed the plan, ran themselves into the ground and almost nicked an equaliser at the death. Yeah, we didn`t go for the jugular from the off but then we didn`t get stuffed 15-0. maybe there`s a connection!

    • Andy Mac

Yup there is. Who would have thought that only 22% of the ball would be OK at home ? However we’re still in the same position in the league as we were before the weekend began and Brighton at the weekend.
      .

  • TheNutJob

Bet Ryder at the chron gives SloMo an 8

    • Virsino

He did have a half decent game given the tactics.

    • Geordiegiants

I’m a critic of his but he done ok today. Not sure about an 8 like.

      • TheNutJob

they all did ok considering who we were playing

        • Geordiegiants

We were in it all game, Rafa played it the only way he could for me.

          • TheNutJob

            he had no other option

          • BenMagpie

            absolutetly

        • DC1964

Apart from one great save Elliot didn’t have too much to do.

      • DC1964

        pretty good last 2 games

        • Soldier

Rafa listed him so he`s in the window

  • TheNutJob

we`ll beat Brighton on Saturday, that`s for sure

    • Geordiegiants

I think so as well, I think Rafa has got them back playing together.

  • DC1964

Good interview with Rafa just there

  • Soldier

we held the best team in the country if not Europe to 1 goal, that will do for me

    • Kneebotherm8

      If not the world?

      • Geordiegiants

I would say definetly at the minute.

  • Andy Mac

Let;’s judge this result after 5pm on Saturday ?

    • Wor Lass

That`s axactly the point, Andy. And we nearly nicked it at the end.

  • Tino o

5 home defeats on the trot is the airhead chairing sky programmed how many times is she going to repeat it!

    • Tino o

She said it again the idiot!

  • Alreet

Theres only a few on here that can see a big positive from this result. Look beyond the scoreline and actually see the bigger picture.

All sky sports could bang on about was 5 losses at home. Not the fact that we have just won away or that city scored the least amount they have all season.

We worked them hard and made them have a go. I can see other teams using the same tactics to tire them.

Leicester pushed them hard in the cup but just didnt manage to finish em off. If you can hold for the first 30 mins then beat their press they are beatable.

    However it may not happen.

    • Wor Lass

Fortunately, they were just off the boil in the final phase as well – especially de Bruyne. If that effort by Dwight had snuck in in the 92nd minute this site would have been like we`d won the cup.

      • Tom Page

Can you tell me how to ‘snuck’??

        • Wor Lass

It`s a bit like sneaking – but you`ve already done it!

    • Rev

The big picture is the number of points on the board and the number of wins and draws. If we are crowing about a manager who can mastermind one nil defeats then the big picture is relegation.

      • TheNutJob

the opposition defined the tactics, 4 past Spurs, 4 past Bournemouth, it was always going to be a damage limitation job

  • TheNutJob

on this game although it was dire i back Rafa all the way, Pep will do his nut & they`ll do Palace on Saturday

    • Wor Lass

Me too! The change of pub didn`t work but I had a nice time sitting with a family of die-hard Citeh fans.

      • TheNutJob

        😂😂😂
        better than sitting with Mackems

        • Wor Lass

Ha ha – absolutely. When I get back home they`ll be the only people I can take the pi$$ out of – and I will!

    • Danimal

      They’d better.

      • TheNutJob

        they will

        • Danimal

Sorry to be pessimistic/fatalistic but I can just see Miss Marple’s smug face after he “masterminds” another injury time own goal win, following yet another late red card for the opposition.

  • GToon

This result isn’t too important tbh. Even Man Utd parked the bus at home against this country backed team. I’m more concerned about the losses to Huddersfield, Brighton, Burnley, Watford, Everton, Leicester and Bournemouth.

  • Kev-82

I wasn’t a fan of the starting tactic and it’s no surprise the goal came while we were playing like that. Overall happy enough not to come out of the game embarrassed or have any damage to our goal difference. We were never expected to get anything out of this and couldn’t play a high intensity press with a short gap to Brighton which is the important game this week.

    • Wor Lass

Common sense in a nutshell – well done, m8!

    • Alreet

Ah some reason on here. Well done.

    • Oooh bobbi fleckman

Exactly, it was an attempt to stay in the game and nick something near the end. If Gayle was better at diving, you never know.

  • TheNutJob

the opposition defined the tactics, 4 past Spurs, 4 past Bournemouth it was always going to be a damage limitation job, it had to be, we simply haven`t got the players to take them on for 90 mins

    • nufcslf

Thank Mike for that. For the most 1 nil or 10 nil, still another bloody home loss with very little in the way of doing much more that defending the fact that you are going to lose. Got to hope money is available in January to try and compete in this league or what is the point.

      • Rev

As the bloke on BBC said another Rafa masterclass defeat for Newcastle fans to savour

      • Alreet

My god. Get a clue. Yea a minus 10 will do the world of good for confidence and our goal tally for the season. What if we end up staying up by a 6 goal margin coz stoke shipped 7 against them.

  • TheFatController

Let’s all not be so harsh on Sky, all that money spent and the title decided at Christmas. So much for entertainment. And it’s all our fault apparently

Why blame us? Because they’re too scared to admit the so called big 6 is actually the big 5 and the huge one. The blame lies with the top 6 rivals who allow City such a lead they feel no pressure and thus you can’t pressure them.

So now they have to build it up as the race for CL places and relegation, as another title race finishes with a whimper…

Sky should give mourinho that extra money he’s asking for to make the title race competitive. What a ck up for PL tv rights

    • Kneebotherm8

And the top boys are wanting an even bigger cut of the TV money on offer………..the gap is gonna get even more embarrassing……………..greedy bstrds as far as I’m concerned.

  • Andy Mac

Ha ha ha ha Sky viewers complaining that it was an unequal battle on their screens. WTF do they expect when one team spends £50m and the other spends £800m ?

Sorry if you dont like it then go watch NFL where they balance wages and draft picks are based on performances not on which country sponsors you !
