  • Andy Mac

Was about to write that Rafa needs to be 100% positive with his line up today then heard he’s replaced Perez with Joselu and Manquillo still at LB ? Is he just winding Fatman up ?

  • Peaky Magpie

Ffs Swansea winning now, desperately need to win today HTL.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

they haven`t lost in 6 and beat Spurs, we could be in big trouble today

Due to go sit and watch this with a mate a Leicester fan in a Leicester pub whoopy do. Just love bring token fan to have p3ss taken out of

          • Andy Mac

Happens to me all the time LM !

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

You would think he was trying to get sacked, Maybe he is.

  • Asen Aleksiev

welcome to championship , i see we are basically without any threatment and creativity upfront

  • Leicester Mag

How the hell does Hos get picked?

    • Peaky Magpie

The £1m dollar question cos f**k div I knaa !

  • Asen Aleksiev

everybody around is winning , it is getting very hard to escape relegation battle with that quality of the team

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

we were always destined for the bottom 6 but Rafa will relegate us

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

I`m off to the Ronnie, see what the plebs think

  • Saul Williams

Joselose.nononononononono!!can not understand Rafa’s selection.Down to ten men before start

  • Peaky Magpie

Think I’ll go sledging then build a snowman, will get the missus to give me a shout about 7-30pm.This could be another embarrassment.

    • Leicester Mag

Snowman likely to pose more of a threat than Hos!

  • Asen Aleksiev

the game vs watford as a remake

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

    stop starting Joselu~!

  • Peaky Magpie

Clutching at straws but Palace just missed penalty

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

Mbemba not even on the bench. Aarons nowhere to be seen. Vexxing stuff on the Tyne.

    • Peaky Magpie

It’s unbelievable and beyond comprehension to be honest.

      • Dillon Tovak

Aaron’s has shown more than Murphy. For me that makes less sense than Mitro not starting for Jos.

  • Peaky Magpie

16th & 4 points from bottom going into this game !

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

on the same token though, a win would put them in 12th

      • Peaky Magpie

Fine margins it’s ridiculous and all teams bunching up and jostling for position.Imagine and it probably is a big imagine if we win today then beat Everton ?

  • Natturner26

We will be completely dead and buried before most Newcastle fans will call for Rafa’s head. Realistically, he needs to go ASAP. We need new ideas fast and cannot allow Rafa another transfer window, as he’s made too many mistakes with the funds he has been given.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

He’s the reason we aren’t dead last. We’d be having a Metz/Benevento season without Rafa. But yes, let’s sack him and hire Neil Warnock!

      • Natturner26

We are dead last in the form table.

        • Marveauxless

You cannot replace your manage every time you have a bad six games, form is temporary and, whilst I disagree with some of his selections and signings, he is undoubtedly better than any other manager we could possibly attract.
In the last 10 years no newly promoted team has finished higher than 10th place (which we are 3 points away from), this season was always going to be a relegation scrap

          • Natturner26

The problem is I can’t see this form as temporary as hard as I try. I’ve never felt this doomed before. And the teams on the bottom aren’t relegation fodder like in other years. Rafa’s negative football isn’t suited for this. We need points, three at a time.

          • Marveauxless

If we’d scored a last minute winner against Bournemouth instead of losing in the last minute we’d be comfortably in mid-table and the thought of sacking Benitez wouldn’t have even entered your head.
We conceded 10 goals in our first 11 games but 12 goals in our last 4 games; in that sense our recent form is very much an outlier as opposed to being an inescapable inevitability as you portray it to be.
The teams in the relegation zone are perfectly on par with teams in previous seasons; After 16 games the teams in the relegation zone have between 11-13 points, compared to previous seasons:
            2014/15: 10-14 points
            2015/16: 6-14 points
            2016/17: 11-12 points
Every single team at the bottom of the league plays negative, defensive football and grinds out results; Rafa’s style of play is perfectly suited for the bottom of the table.

          • Natturner26

The other teams on the bottom started poorly and are improving. We started well and are nosediving. Some of those other teams have also switched up the manager, which has a tendency to get points. You do make some good points, I’m just worried you’ll see my points come the end of the month.

          • Marveauxless

If 40 points is the target for survival then that means we should have 20 points after 19 games; in order to meet that target we will have to pick up another 5 points in our next 4 games against Leicester, Everton, Arsenal and West Ham which is far from impossible. Arsenal have been very good at home this season but the other three are all winnable and even if we slightly fall short there are still a subsequent 19 games to make up that shortfall (effectively turning 1 more draw into a win in the second half of the season)

          • Natturner26

You are right we have a shot at survival. Right now I’d say the odds are 1:1.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            10 games mate, not 6

          • Marveauxless

In those 4 extra games our record was W1 D2 L1 with the draws coming against Liverpool and Southampton away. I’d say that’s quite an impressive record for a newly promoted team

  • Wor Lass

I see doom and gloom is the order of the day. If we cast our minds back to the beginning of the season, things are panning out pretty well as most people predicted – a struggle to avoid relegation. It`s due to Rafa`s influence that it took until now for the reality of that to bite. This is the time that we need to stick with Rafa and whoever he asks to go out and play. I wouldn`t keep picking Hoss, sticking Jonjo on the bench or leaving Mitro and Mbemba out of the picture but then I haven`t won a whole string of top class honours. The thing is, though, it isn`t Joselu`s fault or Perez`s or even Murphy`s. Noone can deny that those guys try and that`s what we were supposed to want – a team and a manager that cared and tried.

    • HTL

      well said

      • Natturner26

It is well said. But what I’m saying is it isn’t too late to save this season and stay up. Why not try that instead of happy clapping right back down. What’s happening now is not working. We’ve never looked this bad.

        • glassjawsh-got-banned

Steve McClaren and the 2015-16 season would like a word

          • Natturner26

Maybe. But that team was capable of upsetting the big boys. Not so sure about this team.

        • HTL

Not happy clapping just being realistic. Just think about Pardew, JFK, Carver and McClaren, imho that was bad compared to where we are now. I would take Rafa over any of those 4 any day of the week.

    • Leicester Mag

I’m not calling for Rafa’s head but these selections are difficult to comprehend. The way Leicester play I fear they’ll knit Manquillo and Yedlin a new one

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

No it`s the managers fault for selecting them, the mans lost all reason

      • Wor Lass

I really don`t agree with his selection but I can see what he`s hoping for. He wants the team full of people who`ll run themselves into the ground closing down the opposition and stopping them from playing. Leicester have quality players who can rip us to shreds if anyone goes AWOL so Mitro is a risk and Jonjo could be seen as a luxury. I`ve never figured out what he`s got against Mbemba. The problem he has, though, is that our players are willing but just not good enough to keep it up.

  • robbersdog

Two of our three best players, Shelvey and Lascelles, are on the bench. Ok, so Lascelles is coming back from an injury, but Shelvey should play in a 5-man midfield, with Gayle up front on his own.

I just don’t understand Joselu’s selection; at best he’s a passenger, and at worst he’s a liability. Rafa clearly thinks that Merino and Shelvey can’t play together, but either would be better than Joselu in the No.10 role. But then again, what we need to do is actually buy a decent No.10!

    • nufcslf

And for 5 mins and a goal you had to think. Now half an hour in it is the same old sh*t and more proof that Shelvey and Mitrovic should be on the pitch. I don’t get it at all.

      • Mike Adam

        Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mike Adam

      You are still right mate!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

If we lose today, Rafa`s record will be worse than McClaren`s at the same point in the season
    now that takes some doing

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

On with the Telly & hide behind the sofa

  • Damon Horner

1-0 Joselu. This is where the scoring run starts.

    • Mike Adam

31 career goals in 8 seasons, not likely!!!

      • Damon Horner

Tongue in cheek. He isn’t good enough.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

you couldnt make it up Hoss scores

    • Leicester Mag

Just spilled my pint the Hos [email protected]@

    • Wor Lass

Told ya – well, er … OK, maybe I didn`t! Ha ha said the clown!!

    • Natturner26

That Hoss goal could relegate us. It means another dozen or so starts for him.

      • Peaky Magpie

        😂😂😂

    • Peaky Magpie

      It’s the miracle of Christmas

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

bahahahaha! finally a goal he actually kicked in himself.

  • robbersdog

I take back everything I’ve ever said about Joselu. I now think he’s a cross between Ronaldo and Messi!

  • Kev-82

    FFS Merino

  • robbersdog

    Darlow should’ve saved that.

    • Kev-82

I’d be looking more at the sloppy giving the ball away unpressured on the half way line then the lack of closing down by anyone on Mahrez.

      • Jezza

Just a complete comedy of errors from start to finish.

  • Leicester Mag

    Ffs normal service resumed

  • nufcslf

The Gayle miss was the turning point. A team that just can’t afford to miss those chances without being punished.

  • Dillon Tovak

We’re laughably bad. Just count how many forward passes it takes until we give it away, I’ve been doing it for ten minutes and I haven’t got to 2 yet.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

dreading the inevitable concession of an injury time goal coming up…

  • Wor Lass

Sounds like a possing`s a possibility! Don`t worry, lads, we`ve still got Ayoze in reserve!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Jonjo needed, Merino off the pace

  • Coach Clagnut

Too much sloppy passing. Missing 5 yard passes, Inability to pass to feet and giving the impetus to Leicester will be the undoing of us unless we get a grip.

  • Coach Clagnut

A lot of our players are, simply, soft as shyte.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      My thoughts exactly

    • Jezza

A lot of them are simply shyte.

  • 1957

I dont know what the actual figure is but I doubt we’ve had more than 30% possession. I’m cold and worried here in the rarified air of level 7

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      Divent jump

  • Coach Clagnut

Anyone not see that one coming? Half-hearted tracking and in some instances, just giving up the ghost.

    • Dillon Tovak

Lascelles for Lejeune can’t come soon enough.
Not that I’m scapegoating him, our whole team is abysmal.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    That`s us Donald Ducked

  • Dillon Tovak

    We’ve made Leicester look amazing.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

turned it off. this season can get [email protected]@#ed

  • Leicester Mag

    Utter sheight!!

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

Schyte, you better hide for a few days

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

      • Leicester Mag

        Beef hooked

  • Asen Aleksiev

    wow championship is calling us.
what a shame we did not spend in summer to avaoid that misery

    • Jezza

The third division is calling us.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        you could be right

  • Wor Lass

It`s looking bad but there`s still half an hour to go!

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

Got a msg from the Muppet he`s in town watching it
      DOOMED !

      • Wor Lass

What I meant was it could get worse!

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

he`s bring on Perez now so you could be right

          • Wor Lass

Do you think Mitro and Mbemba spit-roasted Mrs Benitez?

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            😂😂😂

  • Coach Clagnut

Whatever happened to Rafa’s mantra ” work hard”? Someone slip a xanax into the half time oranges?

  • nufcslf

It is painful to watch. Not too sure what the thought of the manager is at all. But you do know the same 11 will start against Everton on Wednesday. Leicester aren’t world beaters neither and for home match this really is bollocks. You have to watch it to see how bad it can get.

    • Coach Clagnut

Like a slow motion train wreck.

    • Wor Lass

that same 11 won`t start against Everton.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        😂😂😂

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Looks like Jonjo`s up for sale

    • 1957

He must be getting towards the top of the schitt list if he can’t get a place in this team

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

Baffles me, Merino is coming on but he`s no Jonjo Shelvey

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    Dwight, saves the Toon

    • Wor Lass

      Told you … sort of!

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        We`re going for the winner

        • Wor Lass

          But who for?

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            Dwight will get another

  • Coach Clagnut

    Uh oh….game on ?

  • Dillon Tovak

Ha we do NOT deserve that.
    Get in!

  • hetonmag

Oh yea of little faith HWL.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      😁😁

    • Coach Clagnut

Guilty as charged. Comes from experience.

      • hetonmag

        Likewise 👍

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

this problem is all down to the Fat Lads greed

    • Wor Lass

At the end of the day, that`s what it all comes back to.

  • Wor Lass

I can`t even get Radio 5 here so I`ve got to follow on the Chronic live blog but it sounds like Leicester are a bit erratic. We could win this if the lads hold their nerve. they`re obviously struggling to contain Dwight.

    • hetonmag

      👍👍👍👍👍👍

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      We`re going at them

  • Coach Clagnut

False alarm in Florida earlier today. They thought the legendary white whale had beached itself. Turned out to be fatty and his pie bag.

    • Wor Lass

      Key Cashley!

  • 1957

Another Hayden yellow, at this rate he will have another suspension by the new year

    • Wor Lass

Rafa might have to play Jonjo then!

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        Jonjo will start against Everton

    • Mike Adam

      Cannot trust him!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Both teams are going for the win

  • Mike Adam

Joselu has been a beast in this game!!!

  • Mike Adam

    Perez scores!!!!!!!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

OG Perez that`s us down the bag

  • Kev-82

Wow, that all came from Manquillo stopping dead and giving up when he lost the ball.

    • Dillon Tovak

Too right. Why did he just give up? Isn’t he a professional footballer surely he should back himself to kick it?

  • Coach Clagnut

    Cattle trucked…at least Perez scored.

  • Mike Adam

    Great substitution for Leicester Rafa!!!

    • Damon Horner

Agreed. What was he thinking about covering more ground than the midfield.

  • Mike Adam

Yeah bring Mitro in now, what a joke!!!! Should have been done 20 minutes ago!!!!

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      correct

    • 1957

What is the point for a couple of minutes another laughable effort by the tactical genius

  • Peaky Magpie

    FFS MAN

  • nufcslf

    Super sub. Laughable.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

the man who can make things happen is sitting on the bench

    • Wor Lass

One of Lee`s razor-sharp observations on the live blog was along the lines of “both teams are struggling to pass the ball well”. Enter Jonjo, stage right!

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        Somethings not right

        • 1957

          The managers state of mind

  • robbersdog

This awful run that we’re on would suggest that we can’t win without Lascelles.

    • Marveauxless

15 goals conceded in 5 games without him

    • 1957

Might also suggest Benitez has lost the plot…

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        weeks ago

    • nufcslf

And some very strange decisions with player selection while out that simply haven’ t worked and need looking at. There is nothing positive going into the Everton match whatsoever. Fat f**k has to go for this to turn around.

    • GToon

That clown Lejeune is an absolute plank. He needs to go.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

    1 point out of 21

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

      that’s bad

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

It`s relegation if it isn`t sorted

        • GToon

That’s an absolute certainty mate. And it’s what that shower deserve.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Rafa`s post match interview will be in Spanglish

  • Damon Horner

The problem is we’ve conceded three, not that we’ve scored two. Our midfield has been dominated and too many of our back five are not to standard.

    • Mike Adam

You are wrong we scored 3 they scored 2!!!! Isn’t that why Horselu and Hayden play instead of Mitro and Shelvey!

      • Damon Horner

Can’t imagine Joselu being played to keep clean sheets, if he defends from the front it makes mo difference jf there is insufficient work behind. Hayden has been poor lately though, Shelvey isn’t great defensively but at least can cause a test going forward.

  • Coach Clagnut

Pzz poor passing from first to last. Keep shooting ourselves in the foot week after week.
    Happy anniversary.

  • Danimal

Some perplexing team selections/subs of late but the top and bottom of it is we have the weakest squad in the division. We could have matched the spending of the two clubs who came up with us but we didn’t even do that.

    • Wor Lass

      Too true!

  • GToon

Having watched that rubbish that is absolutely totally and utterly Rafa’s fault. Absolute rubbish. The players are a disgrace, the owner is a disgrace and if those are the tactics to play at home then so is the manager.

    • 1957

It’s as clueless and disjointed as the dross SMc produced

  • Leicester Mag

I have just had to leave before I get into trouble how trucking amateurish are we? I just love the opportunities being a fan of Newcastle gives for humiliation

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

He has to bring in Lascelles, Jonjo & Dummy at least against Everton

    • nufcslf

You would like to think so.

    • 1957

      Shelvey won’t be picked

  • Kev-82

How we can expect to win games with our source of goals on the bench. Clearly Shelvey is now getting the treatment of Mitro & Mbemba. Sick of these mind games from Rafa, just pick our strongest XI rather than trying to prove some point to Ashley. Perhaps if he’s so upset over not getting enough funds he should have spent those he had more wisely.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      Fully agree with you

    • 1957

No mind games in it, he just stubbornly refuses to play three of our better players to accommodate his signings

      • Wor Lass

I really don`t know what the explanation is, m8, but I don`t think that`s it. It is weird, though!

  • Coach Clagnut

Does Perez use wet concrete to keep his hair immaculate. After all, image is everything to some of these precious ” footballers “. Screw the fundamentals of accuracy, movement, creating space and recovering from endless mistakes.
What matters is does my hair look fat on this heed?

  • Peaky Magpie

What’s the equivalent of a Pulis Rafalution ??

  • HTL

15 points from 16 games, at that rate its 35/36 points for the season, looks like we are in a relegation battle
    HTL

    • Marveauxless

As is every newly promoted team every single season

      • Natturner26

Wrong. To pretend Newcastle is just a newly promoted side is lies. We are a premiership side. Last year we were a premiership side playing in the Championship.

        • Wor Lass

We haven`t been a Premiership side for years.

        • HTL

No we were a premiership side when we went down, players were sold and a championship team was bought to get us promoted. without the players being brought in in the summer we are still a championship side.

        • Marveauxless

Well given that we were promoted in the very recent past I’d say “newly promoted” is a perfect description of Newcastle United, especially since we were involved in 2 relegation battles in 3 years before finally going down in the 4th.
Of today’s starting XI only Ritchie was playing regularly for a top flight team when we signed them.
And you could make the exact same argument for West Ham, Hull, Norwich and Southampton, all of whom were well established Premier League clubs before getting promotion and yet they all struggled in their first season back in the Premier League

        • HarryHype59

Disagree, Rafa spent £50m building a Championship side last year! He spent £30m bringing in more Championship level players last summer! Is it any surprise this team is now heading back to where it belongs?

          • Natturner26

He bought a foolish amount of Championship players the year we went down, most of which were not needed. So I wasn’t surprised when he had less to spend this season. He had already bought a boat load of Championship players that he couldn’t get rid of. Remember, the problem this summer was a full roster. We needed to sell to buy and no one would buy our rubbish. Everyone blames Ashley but what should he have done differently. I blame Rafa for the current situation.

          • HarryHype59

Rafa certainly bought too many “shirt fillers” last season! Hanley, Sels and Lazaar cost £15m yet hardly played!

          • TheFatController

I think the plan was to get up, then buy PL players – then Ashley had his little joke ‘every penny’ without qualifying that that meant nothing in the first year.

Like saying I’m going to spend all my pay on Xmas to the kids then when there’s no turkey, tree or presents, saying the pennies arrive when I get a year’s pay in the summer…

Ashley led us to believe there was hope. Then crushed it with ‘misinformation’ – ruining all the promotion good will generated.

A first class bitter resentful idiot I’d suggest …

          • Jezza

I’ll tell you what Fatso should have done differently. He should have given Rafa a decent transfer budget so he could have bought better players. Experienced proven Premiership players instead of a rag tag bargain basement bunch of untried youngsters, outcast, reserves, crocks and Sunderland rejects.

Your “full roster” argument is nonsense. We didn’t need to sign more players than we did, we just needed to sign better players than we did but Fatso would not make the money available despite a £40 million transfer profit last season plus all the Premiership television money.

          • Jezza

To be fair Rafa had to sell £90 million worth of Premiership talent to spend that £50 million on Championship dross.

        • Jezza

Last year we were a Championship side with a Premiership manager playing in the Championship. This season we are a Championship side playing in the Premiership and hopelessly out of our depth.

    • Jezza

One point from our last seven games says we are doomed.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Rafa`s just beat McClaren`s record for the least amount of points at this stage of the season

    • nufcslf

When Joselu gets 90 mins, it’s just not surprising.

    • Peaky Magpie

FFS that stat says a lot I’m afraid.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        We`re in the shyte Peaky

        • Peaky Magpie

Aye MMM with a geet big capital S !

    • Jezza

To be fair McClaren was given money to spend and there were still some decent players on our books when he came in. Rafa has had neither of those things. This squad under McClaren would be lucky to be on 4 or 5 points by this stage of the season.

  • Natturner26

1 point in 7. Rafa utter failure. Time for the stubborn old mule and his pet donkey Hoss to go.

    • Dillon Tovak

      Who shall we get instead?

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

no one. who would want to come to a side with a dozen subpar players and no money to spend?

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

        Carlo Ancelotti
        😂😂

      • Natturner26

There’s a running list of available managers on Transfermarkt

        • Wor Lass

          Are you Clarko in disguise?

        • Marveauxless

And if we sacked him, Benitez would be the most in demand manager on that list

          • Natturner26

I think it isn’t a good fit here. Maybe he would be fine for a team with better players.

          • mentalman

            Would he though

      • Peaky Magpie

Said on here for a while now It’ll be Pulis, fits Fattys profile and never gets relegated.

      • Jezza

Now that Pardew has gone to West Brom, Joe Kinnear is a shoe in.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

His excuse is lack of funds & that`s true, but he has 3 full internationals not even playing

  • Andy Mac

Is there any genuine reason for sticking Mitro on with 88 minutes gone ? Appearance money ?

    • Natturner26

At this point it seems Rafa hates Mitro so much he’s trying to mess with his appearances/goals ratio by putting him on for two minutes at the end of each match.

      • Wor Lass

        .. because …?

        • Natturner26

I don’t know. Because Mitro lifted him?

  • Sumit Sengupta

This team is not ready. They show some sparks and then fizzle out. Lack of quality and maybe experience. Relegation fight is on the card and that is where the team should concentrate as there is no guarantee of new signings in January..

    • Wor Lass

No disrespect but could we shorten your name to Sumit Up – because there certainly is!

  • Peaky Magpie

It’s as if he is playing big mind games with Fatso and using the players as pawns.Senor Benitez drop it and sort it out or relegation is more probable than possible.Hippo Heed will be rubbing his thieving grubby fat hands already before next weeks visit with the scouse mackems.

    • nufcslf

      How very very true.

    • Jezza

Relegation is neither probable or possible. It is guaranteed.

      • Peaky Magpie

Looking more & more likely I agree.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Fatty out, sack the board, we want Carlo
    😁😁😁

    • Peaky Magpie

Need to put my glasses on,thought that said “we want Clarko” then !! Phew.

      • Shields Mag

Here here, Fatso out he should be lucky to have been offered 250 mill and Lascelles Dummett and Shelvey to start v Everton.

        • Peaky Magpie

It’s a mess mate, the wallpaper covering the cracks is well and truly peeling off now.

  • Kev-82

With each game we don’t win, I can’t help think it’s going to make Staveley look elsewhere. It looks far too risky an investment for anybody at this moment.

    • nufcslf

You might not be too far off the mark, for how healthy it looked when the sale was first announced.

    • HarryHype59

Yet the usual pro Ashley reality denying ijeets, will claim the club is worth £300m minimum!

  • Coach Clagnut

We look as far away from a team as we did under the tufted one. We’re not showing anything displaying any of Rafa’s supposed strengths regarding teamwork and fight.
For all the noises coming from the players and the club’s mouthpieces of the press, there’s not a lot of cohesion, unity and desire on display and hasn’t been for a while now.
The poison generated by fatty seems to be permeating throughout the club and the effect is there for all to witness. The club is in a bad place and could get a lot worse even allowing for Rafa’s experience.
    Thoroughly depressing.

    • Wor Lass

I would suggest that the main reason is the absence of Lascelles. He ha to be b]ack in for Everton.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

I`d put Mbemba in front of the back 4 instead of Hayden

        • HarryHype59

So would I, he plays there for his country!

          • mentalman

We desperately need a defensive midfielder in the team and currently don’t have one.
Hayden is good at breaking up play but he prefers to do it further up the pitch. We need someone who will sit and protect the defence and manage the edge of the box

          • Mike Adam

I totally agree! Mbemba would be my choice.

  • Alreet

If lascelles could be on the bench he should have been on the pitch. The defence has looked disjointed since he got injured. They are all playing their own game and not working as a team. The captain has proved that he brings everyone together and scored the winners a few times.

Also the amount of through balls and crossfield passes shelvey could have had. We might have nailed them very early.

I do think rafa is playing a little game at the moment and for the sake of the prem i really wish he would pick the team that works.

Gayle has has mojo back and it just seems like ego thats stopping rafa playing him and mitro together.

We had a few positives again today but we really should have put them out in the first half.

    Dust down for everton now.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

Lascellles, Jonjo & Dummy against Fat Sam

      • Alreet

And mitro and gayle and mbemba. We have half our best players on the bench and everyone sees it

        • MichaelMaximusMoose

          yes

        • 1957

          Except Benitez

    • 1957

Hoss has scored today will no doubt train well, so in Benitez’s muddled mind he will be guaranteed a place in the stating line up for the next 12/13 games

      • Mike Adam

I am afraid you are right!

      • Peaky Magpie

        He’s prolific now !

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

I`ve said it before and i`ll say it again Merino`s a good lad but at this moment in time he`s no Jonjo Shelvey

    • nufcslf

I do think Shelvey along side him would do him and the team the world of good.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

It beggars belief Jonjo not playing it`s madness

        • Peaky Magpie

Has he taken the same naughty tablet as Colback ? Summit has riled Benitez.

          • MichaelMaximusMoose

            yip

  • Sid James

    What a Carry On lads

    • 1957

      Carry On Clueless ?

  • Scooter

Mitrovich, Shelvey, Mbemba, how are these lads not playing ?

    • 1957

They aren’t Benitez signings or his fellow countrymen

      • nufcslf

In a results business, it doesn’t look too clever.

  • Peaky Magpie

On that poll on here a couple of weeks back asking how many points we would get out of next 8 games I said 5.At first I thought I was been harsh but I tell you what I’d settle for 5 now.

    • Scooter

      I said 5 as well

    • 1957

I said 4 and expected one from today

      • Peaky Magpie

        Yup,me too.

    • Jezza

I said none. Expect nothing with this shambles of a football club and you won’t be disappointed.

  • Leicester Mag

Rafalution? More like an effing ablution

    • HarryHype59

The Rafalution now sounds like last years stale sound bite!

      • Jezza

I hope for his own sake that Rafa walks away from this mess before his reputation is completely ruined.

        • Mike Adam

Do you honestly believe that Rafa shoulders NO blame in this run of play?

        • nufcslf

I do blame fatty through and through, but don’t think Rafa did himself any favours leaving a healthy Shelvey and Mitovic on the bench. No guarantees, but could of helped if tried. The Joselu loyalty is Pradew like. Just hope for the day when talk on here is all about the match win, lose or draw rather than the on going sh*t show Cashley has turned the club into.

  • Whickhamrobbie

We are down , no doubt about it .
Shambles of a club , we are emulating the mackems at being gutless .
The sale wont happen trust me and we will be down and out of the cup by the end of february .

    • Dillon Tovak

      Start of February?

    • Jezza

      We’re already down and out.

  • Peaky Magpie

If you’re reading this Ms Staveley and you need something to spend your cash on I could do with a new kitchen, bathroom & car ?

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Wonder how the Ronnie Gills taking it
    😂😂😂

    • Peaky Magpie

“5 Managers We Could Get By February” !!! Ryder is onto it as we speak.

  • nufcslf

The worst thing for me is that I don’t feel half as gutted as I should. The rot from the top has just been around far too long for this to be enough to ruin any given weekend. Sad.

    • Dillon Tovak

True statement. I just don’t care, didn’t even phase me 1-0 up, half celebrated the 2nd goal. It’s just all been so demoralising for about 5 years.

      • nufcslf

Makes you wonder where it goes from here. Right where fatty likes it all the same. See what Wednesday brings, but deep down you know it has a Rooney hatrick written all over it.

  • HarryHype59

Is anyone actually surprised this team is in free fall? The summer window was truly dreadful! Both in terms of the net spend and the quality of players bought! I put 80% of the blame on Ashley for his usual obsession with cost cutting!

Rafa must take some responsibility however, for buying players in the summer window, who were no better even worse than those already here!

    • Danimal

About fair. But I do think Rafa’s hands were tied. People say the Murphy and Joselu money would have paid for Andre Gray but I doubt it was that simple.

      • HarryHype59

        Why?

        • Danimal

I don’t think we (Ashley) would have paid the required wage that generally goes alongside a £17m transfer fee. Hence we ended up paying a fairly large fee for an unproven lower league player rather than make no signings at all.

          • Danimal

Also, career-wise, the £17m player and his agent would favour a more ambitious club like Watford, where he wouldn’t be the only Premier League quality player in the squad.

          • HarryHype59

“More ambitious club like Watford!” ffs
            That sums up the problem!

          • Danimal

            Was meant to. Happy Christmas.

          • Jezza

In talking about more ambitious clubs than NUFC under Fatso we don’t need to go as far as Watford. Championship clubs like Wolves and Middlesborough would be quite far enough.

          • HarryHype59

Surely, the combined wages of the duck eggs bought in the summer, would be greater than that of one decent player?

          • Danimal

Yes but the extremely poor imitation of a human being that has spent the last ten years removing any pleasure from our favourite pastime thinks two cheap tracksuits are a better use of space than one nice suit.

          • Jezza

            Spot on.

      • Kev-82

Glad that didn’t happen, Gray is garbage too. At least we bought garbage for £5m instead.

    • Jezza

Spot on. I got a lot of stick from the Ashpologists on this forum back in the summer for saying that we’d signed a load of bargain basement dross. It gives me no satisfaction to have been proved right.

      • Leazes Ender

Its not good being right…. I hate it.

  • Saul Williams

Getting used to defeat now.Big changes are needed I.e takeover, injection of cash, because this team is going back to the championship. All 3 goals could have been prevented, and its the same old story.I also don’t think Rafa is helping things by his selections. We all love Rafa, but even he is not immune to criticism.

  • mentalman

Forget about money spent the biggest problem is rafa is playing players who arent the best we have and its the same players making the mistakes or playing poorly everytime we play.

  • Leazes Ender

    When does the Rafalution start?
