  • Dillon Tovak

If Shelvey came in for Joselu and then Merino supported Gayle, I’d say that’s the strongest line up available.

    • Wor Lass

Plus Mbemba for Isaac for me – I like him but he`s not played well this season.

      • TheNutJob

and i`d say you`re right as well

        • Wor Lass

Ha ha – isn`t this cosy. Watch out, Clarko`s escaped from his cell again.

          • TheNutJob

Mick`s threw a wobbler, the language is terrible
            😂😂😂😂

          • Wor Lass

Was it the mention of Bet Victor?

          • TheNutJob

no i told him about Jonjo

          • Wor Lass

            That would do it.

          • TheNutJob

it did, i think we`ll win today, so does he. he`s on the drink already & fiddling around with the Kodi box

          • Dillon Tovak

It wouldn’t be right if someone wasn’t calling us a moron or telling us we need to learn to read 😂

          • Wor Lass

Have you just been reading my posts on the other thread! lol

          • Dillon Tovak

+ the amount of times it’s been directed my way.

          • Wor Lass

Not by me – unless you`re Clarko in disguise!

          • Dillon Tovak

Haha if I was Clarko in disguise I would have very worrying split personality disorder as I’ve “debated” him at length a few times.

    • TheNutJob

and i`d say you were right

    • TheNutJob

Merino plays at number 10 for Spain`s young team & scores, you would think Rafa would give him a go there

    • Mike Adam

Totally agree Dillon. Clarko told me that Merino doesn’t play number 10 for Spain, but one of the Chronicle writers, I forget which one said he does. Not sure who to believe. But Horselu should be nowhere near the pitch!!!

      • TheNutJob

he does play number 10 for Spain

        • Mike Adam

I have heard several say so, and only Clarko say that he doesn’t. No matter, I think he would make a great number 10.

  • csh

Expected to see Saivet at least on the bench today

    • Dillon Tovak

Hopefully he’ll have a role against Stoke.

      • csh

Hope so, just hope the lad isn’t another Mitro, never to be seen again…

  • robbersdog

That looks about right, so fingers crossed for a win.

  • TheNutJob

Clarko, stop messing aboot & tell us the result
    😁😁

    • Clarko

When you’re inaugurated as a god they have you sign a form, it’s against the terms and conditions to give away such information, they’ll drop you like the Americans dropped Little Boy back in 45, just look at what happened to Satan.

      • Wor Lass

You`ve been watching too many back episodes of Stargate Atlantis. You need to get off that and borrow some of Blobbi`s DVD`s about naughty nurses. it`ll do you good.

        • Damon Horner

          Is he old enough?

        • Clarko

Read a book, it’ll do you good.

          • Wor Lass

It`s Ok – he`s got ones that feature male nurses as well.

  • Mike Adam

Going out with ten men again. At least no Slomo and Manquillo!

    • TheNutJob

      thank God for small mercy`s

    • hetonmag

Can you just not be positive for a change. HWTL.

      • Mike Adam

I was, I said at least no Slomo and Manquillo. I cannot find it in me to back Horselu, he is totally worthless, IMO, which I know means nothing but it is my opinion!

        • hetonmag

I have seen some poor players in my time but never ever called anyone in a black and white shirt worthless.

          • Mike Adam

Again mate, you might not have and that is very loyal. I am because in my view, he is. If your opinion is to think that I am less of a fan because I think that then so be it.

        • Wor Lass

I think you`re a bit harsh on the lad. Agreed, he isn`t the quality that we need – and I`d play Mitro ahead of him any day of the week, even with a “bad back” – but he does at least give it 100%. We`ve had freeloaders in the past who didn`t care at all but I wouldn`t label Joselu like that.

          • Mike Adam

Well Wor we agree there. The disgrace in my opinion is that mitro has not been given a chance!!! I do not believe Mitro is hurt and I also believe that others try just as hard as the Hoss and can do much better.

          • nufcslf

He is sh*t match in, match out. It is very easy to get an opinion on him. Should have been dropped 2 months ago and never given another kick of the ball.

        • Virsino

The whole team has been muck for 30 minutes, and Joselu has had nothing to do with that.

          • TheNutJob

he`s wandered around like he`s lost

          • Virsino

            they’re all wandering around….

          • Mike Adam

You have contradicted yourself mate, is he not part of the whole team or am I misunderstanding your comment?

  • TheNutJob

Where’s Peaky, mustn’t have paid his broadband bill

    • Wor Lass

He forgot to feed his dogs after they couldn`t find Clarko – they`ve eaten him!

  • Benmagpie

Club website is broadcasting rugby!!! Wtf???

  • Brazilian John

    I can’t believe Dummett is a professional football player…

  • TheNutJob

29 mins in & what a load of rubbish, we can`t string 2 passes together,

    • Brazilian John

Shelvey replacing Hayden would help us to keep the ball..

      • TheNutJob

        it`s just terrible

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

the best you can say about the first half hour is that it’s still 0-0

    • TheNutJob

      i`m watching it, it`s dire

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

Gayle looks like he needs a nap…

    • TheNutJob

the whole team needs a kick up the backside

  • Wor Lass

I`ve been keeping up to date on the Chronic live blog. Have we kicked off yet?

    • TheNutJob

      H/T just awful,

  • TheNutJob

Can`t pass a ball and they may sell Jonjo, no wonder we`re down near the bottom

  • Wor Lass

Jonjo for Joselu and Chancel for Isaac.

    • TheNutJob

      Fatty oot, sack the board
      😂😂

      • robbersdog

        Fatty IS the board!

        • TheNutJob

          I know

      • Wor Lass

I thought you`d turned on Rafa for a mo!

    • TheNutJob

Bournemouth winning, Stoke & Swanseas losing

      • DC1964

        Stoke getting walloped!

        • TheNutJob

so they are, doesn`t say we can beat them though

          • robbersdog

            We couldn’t beat an egg.

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

sun’lun winning. pulled themselves out of the relegation zone for now,.

        • TheNutJob

          bad crack

    • Mike Adam

      We agree again!

      • Wor Lass

It`s all a matter of interpretation!

      • TheNutJob

        he`ll put Slomo on

  • TheNutJob

    they`ve kicked off

  • hetonmag

Welcome to the Nut Job Website.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

they’ve looked decent defending. but that’s all they seem to do.

    • DC1964

We don’t ship many but don’t create much either!

  • nufcslf

Is this a side that looks bothered that it has lost 5 straight at home. Going to get 0-0 if lucky at this rate. Sh*t club top to bottom.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

    we’re watching a championship game

  • Michael Smith

if we don`t get a result today or Monday, we need a change as this teams going down

  • Michael Smith

why doesn`t he use the subs ?

  • nufcslf

Richie off and the sh*t that is Joselu stays on. No wonder he shook his head on the way off. Going down…….

    • Michael Smith

      Merino off now

      • nufcslf

Odd for the fact the only thing that ressembled football against Man City came in the last 12 mins or so when both Shelvey and Merino were on the pitch.

        • Michael Smith

lost count of the amount of our back passes

    • 1957

      At least its not SloMo…yet

  • DC1964

The passing from both teams has ben dire!!

    • Virsino

Personally I don’t give a $hit about Brightons passing, we have been pathetic in every aspect.

      • DC1964

        We certainly have!

  • nufcslf

Do the player’s think we are safe and have a good home record. This is awful.

  • Michael Smith

hard to defend a performance like that, Brighton will be happy

  • Wor Lass

    Swansea and Bournemouth both winning!

    • Michael Smith

      Rafa will relegate us

      • Jezza

        No, Ashley will relegate us.

    • nufcslf

Serves us right for such another poor home performance. Total disgrace.

  • Wor Lass

Rafa`s going to cop for a lot of criticism again and this time it sounds well deserved.

    • TheNutJob

Don`t watch MOTD you won`t get any kip

      • Dillon Tovak

You might fall asleep through boredom.

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

It’s been well deserved all along .. the blinkers may come off for a few of the happy clappers after today though

      • Michael Smith

nothing will change, they`ll blame Ashley & so will Rafa

        • glassjawsh-got-banned

they should blame Ashley. Even if they are also blaming Rafa.

          • Michael Smith

            he`s spent a £105m

          • glassjawsh-got-banned

on sh i t players because the pie man wouldn’t sign off on presentable ones. It was either bargain basement or nothing. Would you rather he signed no one?

          • Jezza

No he hasn’t. He has spent MINUS £28 MILLION.

        • Jezza

Ashley IS to blame. What is Rafa supposed to do when Ashley’s profiteering left him with a bunch of Championship cloggers in the Premiership. 19 points at the turn of the year with a Championship team in the Premiership is very impressive. I doubt we’d have as many points at this stage with a different manager.

      • Wor Lass

Yeah – wonder why you suddenly appear just after we lose?

        • Anita kick up the Hoop

What are you talking about? We’ve won one game in 13 or something!$! Have I been quiet during our wining streak?
I’ve had these negativity/defensive minded concerns for over a season!

    • 1957

      Same old Rafa…

  • TheNutJob

Don`t know where we go from here, down most likely. they were pathetic from start to finish.

  • TheNutJob

Looking on that performance the players don`t look interested, it`s like the end of the McClaren era

    • 1957

The players look totally lost on the pitch, they haven’t a clue what the tactics are

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

Utter con man Benitez … the most negative manager I’ve ever witnessed including Souness and Allerdyce

    • Leicester Mag

The Emperor’s clothes looking pretty see through at the moment

  • Leicester Mag

Pathetic, 7 changes and Ranieri was called the tinkerman! How the hell can you expect anything with close to the worst C.F. to ever pull on a black and white shirt.

    • Michael Smith

Joselu needs to be shown the door but we`d need to give him away

    • nufcslf

And keeps getting close to if not the full 90 mins. Cashley is the real problem, but has nothing to do with team selection and tactics in a must win home match.

  • Michael Smith

something must be done or we are down, the team isn`t good enough & neither is the manager

  • 1957

Don’t know what the stats are but Brighton seemed to have more possession, more shots and corners. This was terrible the players didn’t seem have a clue what they were doing, passing was poor, movement almost non existent…I don’t know what they do in training but it isn’t working.

    • Michael Smith

      45% Newcastle 55% Brighton

      • 1957

Thought so…usual lack of ambition from the manager.

        • Jezza

Lack of ambition from the owner who wouldn’t allow the manager anything like sufficient funds to prepare a Championship squad for the Premiership.

    • nufcslf

But Slomo and Joselu are standouts.

      • 1957

And Benitez buys, therefore guaranteed a place in the match day squad

        • nufcslf

That part is a worry. Doesn’t have a lot of options due to Cashley, but sitting here now you already have to think the starting 11 against Stoke will be set up for a draw with no way back if they score first.

          • DC1964

No risks taken today, an ultra cautious display!

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

Negative no matter the opposition.. people pretended the Man City game was a one off .. it’s the norm

      • Michael Smith

        how very true

    • Jezza

The players just aren’t good enough. Simple as that. Brighton were as strong a team as us last season and they had a much better summer transfer window than us. It’s no surprise we can’t beat them.

      • Mitros gotta start

The players the manager and the owner are not good enough

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

Rafa is a destroyer of confidence .. he’s dropped Aarons after doing well, Saivet after showing quality and character our midfield has been chopped and changed over and over again and our timid centre forward is Rafa’s pet donkey while our only real centre forward is banished because Benitez is a child .. but hey, he’s a “world class manager” right!

    • Michael Smith

      Was

    • Mitros gotta start

      ^^^^^^^this^^^^^^^

  • Mxpx

It’s all well and good saying rafa out which if we had world class management lining up at our door I’d be happy to agree with we don’t though I don’t see anyone that’s going to come in and do a better job though it kills me to see us so negative though

    • Michael Smith

look what a world class manager is doing now,

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

People said the same about Pardew.. we couldn’t attract anyone else .. we are a massive club .. why do we sell ourselves short?

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

        because the owner does

      • Mxpx

Don’t get me wrong if we can land someone appropriate I’m happy to go ahead with the change but I think until we get said replacement lined up we’d be shooting ourselves in the foot I do think if mandys takeover goes ahead in time rafa deserves a chance with a budget though be nice to see a new manager bringing mitrovic aarons and saivet into the team though

        • TheNutJob

it`s to late in the day for Mandy

          • DC1964

            Ashley’s digging his heels in!

      • Jezza

It’s not the manager who is the problem. It’s the players. They are simply not good enough to play at this level. That is all down to ten years of Ashley’s policy of asset stripping the playing staff for personal profit.

  • DC1964

West Ham and Palace could dump us back in the bottom 3.

    • Michael Smith

we have to rely on others losing because we can`t do it ourselves

    • Anita kick up the Hoop

Benitez has done that not other clubs .. negativity brings negative results

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

We’ll be rooting on Arsenal tomorrow. what a world…

      • DC1964

Yep, and Man Utd in the tea time kick off!

  • Tino o

That was [email protected] pathetic another EMBARRASSING performance . We need millions spent ora change of manager

  • TheNutJob

never had a settled team, chopping & changing players 24/7 playing the likes of Hoss, Slomo & Perez, no wonder it`s a shambles

    • Jezza

It’s a shambles because none of our players are good enough for this league. The only person to blame for that is Ashley.

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

Outside of Lescelles, you might just be right.

        • DC1964

          Clark is pretty decent.

        • TheNutJob

He is right, cast offs and 2nd raters

      • TheNutJob

agree 99% Jezza but there`s been some really bad buys & the tactics are questionable

        • Jezza

Yes there have been bad buys but if you walk onto a car forecourt with a budget of two grand you’re not going to be driving away in a Ferrari are you.

      • TheNutJob

        JFK, Jezza
        😂😂

      • Tino o

Benitez is blameless? Come on have a good think about it before you state the same excuse. Yes Ashley is mostly responsible but Benitez team selection and tactics should be taken into account. Were you as sympathetic with mclaren pardew and carver? We have what we have and Benitez has drained all confidence from the squad!

        • Jezza

McClaren and Pardew had better players to work with. Rafa has been put in an impossible position by Ashley.

          • Tino o

He’s not the messiah he has played his part smell the coffee . He is hiding behind his past success. Were in the [email protected] again and he is not helping

      • Down Under Mag

Rafael can only do so much if the players are Championship quality, however he isn’t helping himself with bringing Perez on for Ritchie when Murphy has looked more of a threat this season and is one we should be giving time to in order to keep him progressing.

Having said that, we had chances, could have had a penalty and just don’t seem to get that bit of luck. Going to be a long 2nd half to the season if we don’t get some loan players in before the window shuts that’s for sure.

    • Phil Yare

you’ve just named 3 of the worst players in the premier league. I’d add murphy and mannquillo to that and thats half a team

  • Stephen Paylor

Darlow , Slowed the game down almost every time when we could have could have been on the counter, long ball after long ball from the back was frustrating. Made the saves he needed to though.
We have pretty much zero premier league quality in the final third. When Ritchie has an off day like today we have nothing going forward at all. How can Rafa fix this? Players that have quality in the final third are 40 million plus. Were going to be lucky to stay up. Bournemouth and Swansea winning today FFS

    • Phil Yare

the whole approach is lethargic and uninterested. it’s like we are trying to win 0-0 without the ability to defend despite numbers back.

  • Michael Smith

he needs to go and take all his high minded tactics with him, it`s a Fat Sam we need for the rest of the season

  • DC1964

Stoke conceded 5 again today, their GD is shocking! We don’t score many! Promises to be a cracker on Monday!!!

    • TheNutJob

who will score for us like, Lascelles or Clarky the forwards can`t

      • DC1964

Our set piece play is terrible so I can’t see those 2 scoring either!

        • TheNutJob

it`s the delivery, it was pathetic today

        • Phil Yare

remember when we had shearer, robert and solano over a freekick? that was probs 15 goals a season just in freekicks! and thats not including any goals converted from corners

and is it me but inswinging corners and freekicks never work! but we keep doing them

          • DC1964

I agree, we don’t get much joy from set pieces.

      • Jezza

Own goal or a penalty. That’s our best hope.

        • Danimal

Penalty? Is that one of those direct free kicks in the penalty area, that the other 19 teams in the league get from time to time?

  • Phil Yare

brighton have took 4 points off us this season. can some of the people that keep saying we can’t compete please explain how?

  • HarryHype59

Whilst the Fat lad is 70% to blame, Rafa’s also has take responsibility for the situation we are in! His buys in the summer window were poor! His negative tactics largely contributed to this latest set back at SJP today!

Unless at least two EPL quality forward players are signed in the window, the Championship beckons!

    • DC1964

It doesn’t make sense, We beat West Ham away with a very positive, attacking style of football then go ultra cautious at home today!

      • TheNutJob

takes some figuring out, doesn`t it

        • DC1964

It does. Brighton are a poor side.

          • TheNutJob

terrible, but i bet Chris keeps them up

          • Andy Mac

Radio commentator said it was “Rubbish football” from both sides. There’s a cynical thought in my head “What if this was a “done deal” by both managers before the game started” ?

          • nufcslf

You have wonder with such a poor showing from what should two desperate teams needing wins to stay in the league.

          • DC1964

It was shocking football from both sides, the passing was abysmal!

    • robbersdog

His tactics and lineup were anything but negative today; the problem is that the players, with one or two exceptions, simply aren’t good enough.

We’re a good Championship side, but a poor Premier League side.

    • Phil Yare

his buys were actually worse than gouffran and anita. even gosling would walk into our team now

  • Andy Mac

Right what I do know about football is very little however one of the well trotted out phrases you hear every now and again is “Never change a winning team” So WTF happened to the side that beat Wet Spam ? OK it may have been a one off but how will we ever know if it wasn’t our best team atm if we dont play the fkrs again ?

    • nufcslf

That also goes for the 11 that finished and battled back to get a draw at West Brom.

    • DC1964

I agree, he should have stuck with team that beat West Ham, that was a very positive display.

      • TheNutJob

        best performance in yonks

  • TheNutJob

Hughes at Stoke did a Rafa today and didn`t play most of his good players that means he`s held them back for us

    • Phil Yare

yes i noted that. however we don’t have any good players

      • TheNutJob

        😂😂

  • Phil Yare

i will go with the theory that some clown ashley employs is still buying the players (if you can call them that)

but – the managers approach to the man city game was a disgusting and a complete mess of a team selected, all to just prioritize this half arsed effort.

we now have a horrible situation, we have a owner that has destroyed the foundations of this football club and any potential we ever had. hes turned us into absolute minnows of the game whilst reaping the benefits of free advertising and pocketed season ticket money, tv and transfer money.

we have a manager who is really struggling to justify his CV, maybe aliens did it but his negativity is killing everything

championship next season under mike ashley. rafa will get a top job where there are already world class players there so we will have that rubbed in our faces when he does well there.

  • GToon

There are two people to blame for our current predicament. I’m not sure about the percentage for each one. The first one is obviously Ashley, the worlds poorest and yet greediest billionaire who apparently has spent all of his money on wallpaper.
The second person to blame is the manager. The manager who has set his stall out with negative tactics to prove a point to Ashley over lack of funds. He has changed the team around every game to the point that none of the players know if they will play the next match or be left out of the squad all together. It is our manager that is driving the “we aren’t good enough for this league” bandwagon and it would seem the players are happy to go along with him. So anyway, in this mini league where any team is capable of beating the other exactly who are we capable of beating? Palace and West Ham? Tick tock Rafa. Running out of games fast. Who’s up next? Stoke, who will want a response and then Swansea who won away at a team we made look like world beaters. So how come a poor team like Brighton are in mid table? How many times has Hughton said his team aren’t good enough. How many times has he changed his team around?
There’s three ways I see this going. Firstly Ashley refuses to sell, there’s minimum investment and Rafa stays in charge = relegation.
The second option is a carbon copy of the above apart from Rafa being replaced by somebody like Pullis and I think we would stay up.
The third option is Ashley sells, Rafa gets the cheque book and we stay up.
My money is on the first one.

100% correct mate in everything you say. I’m happy for ashley to take a majority of the flack for his crimes against this city and football team but if rafa’s doing a good job then chris hugton and david wagner must be the best managers of all time

and i will go with option 1. then rafa will leave following relegation. another season of disillusionment and quiet protest. maybe we should have boycotted SJP till he went.

You know what Phil, for once, just once in my life I want to be wrong about Newcastle. But since this forum has started just about every one of us can predict with unerring accuracy what’s round the corner. Sad isn’t it.

    • Leazes Ender

Oh really…. they knew about Ashley over a decade ago…. they just never said anything…..

… who are they blaming for this shambles now?

  • nufcslf

I am totally onside with Jezza and hate Cashley with a passion. Even people on my postie walk here in Vancouver that don’t know one thing about ‘soccer’ know the name, ‘Mike f**kin’ Ashley’. He is now still f**king his club that he no longer has any intetest in, increadible. This is just yet anothe shocking season has been shocking on and off the pitch this season

  • Gary McCarron

When do we think the time will be when fans stop going to SJP?
Should it be now? Or could that jeopardise the sale?

    • Phil Yare

there’s not going to be a sale. theres more chance of jackie milburn rising from the grave a nutting mike ashley in the face

      • Phil Yare

not sure which one i’d prefer

        • Gary McCarron

haha, I think the players along with Rafa are struggling to show spirit, it clearly is getting through to the fans. There appears to be less “In Rafa we trust” messages about now.

      • Leicester Mag

More chance of that than Hos scoring
