The Newcastle v Luton match will take place on Saturday 6 January.

The game has a 3pm kick-off and the TV broadcasters have left well alone.

Newcastle have never won more than one FA Cup match in a season under Mike Ashley, so maybe this could be our big year…to reach the fifth round.

No news on tickets as yet.

Saturday’s opponents have been selected for live TV though.

Leicester City have been drawn away from home and are waiting to see whether they go to Fleetwood or Hereford.

For Newcastle fans, I think we have quite enough stress this season without another visit to Hereford to worry about.

We see Ronnie Radford’s goal quite enough as it is, just imagine if we played them again!

Newcastle United official announcement:

‘It has been confirmed that Newcastle United’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round clash at home to Luton Town will take place on Saturday, 6th January, with kick-off at 3pm.

The League Two pacesetters won 5-0 on the other side of the Tyne on Sunday – against Gateshead – with Olly and Elliot Lee – sons of former United midfielder Rob – both on target at the International Stadium.

The Magpies and Luton have met on four previous occasions in the FA Cup. When they were last paired together – during the 1993/94 campaign – the Hatters progressed following a replay.

Ticket details will be announced on in due course.’

Luton will win by 2 or 3 and Rob Lee’s sons will be up for it after Gateshead and saying they wanted us at St James Park. It’s written in the Stars…’The Daily Star’. Luton score goals we don’t!

I recall Luton beating us here in the cup in the 70’s and their invisible fans suddenly came to life in the Old Stand banging the seats. Hope we win and play Sunderland or Boro away next

I’d sooner visit Sunlun City of culcha…. than go on a futile cup run.

For goodness sake! Is it Ashley’s fault that Benitez played a weakened team with no chemistry in the FA cup last year?

Perhaps if we had hit him with the criticism he deserved for that, he would not still be playing sloMo this season
