Classic Alan Shearer as he explains to outsiders how Mike Ashley has no respect for anybody
Alan Shearer was there on Saturday to see Newcastle continue their dismal run of results, losing 3-2 to Leicester.
After the game he used his Twitter account to tell Mike Ashley that he has to sell Newcastle United ‘before its’ too late again’.
Sunday night saw him return to Match of The Day duty.
The Newcastle giving Mike Ashley both barrels, as he explained to outsiders how the club’s owner shows respect to nobody: ‘to staff, to fans, to former players, to managers’.
Alan Shearer via Twitter on Saturday:
“Nowhere near good enough Newcastle United today.
“Sell our club Mr Ashley to someone who wants to be here before it’s too late again.”
Alan Shearer talking on MOTD 2 – Sunday night:
“People outside of Newcastle think the problem is what is happening on the pitch but it is what is happening off the pitch as well.
“I think there is a lack of respect to staff, to fans, to former players, to managers.
“They had their 125 years celebrations yesterday (Saturday). When you look at the number of (former) players that were on the pitch at half-time, that tells you there is a lack of respect to a lot of people out there.
“So the fans feel that their money is not being invested enough and they want somebody at the football club who wants to be there, to take the football club forward.
“They would rather have a different situation now and try something different because at the minute they don’t feel like they are getting anywhere.”
‘Do you also agree that as a promoted club, like Huddersfield and Brighton, it will be a bit of a struggle this season?’
“They get fifty two thousand every week, so you can’t compare them with Huddersfield and Brighton.”
‘But I can compare them on the pitch can’t I?’
“You can do but that is what I am saying.
“When you compare the attendances from the other clubs to Newcastle United, fifty two thousand every week, week in week out. Fifty two thousand in the Championship, that is why they are not happy.”
