Alan Shearer was there on Saturday to see Newcastle continue their dismal run of results, losing 3-2 to Leicester.

After the game he used his Twitter account to tell Mike Ashley that he has to sell Newcastle United ‘before its’ too late again’.

Sunday night saw him return to Match of The Day duty.

The Newcastle giving Mike Ashley both barrels, as he explained to outsiders how the club’s owner shows respect to nobody: ‘to staff, to fans, to former players, to managers’.

Alan Shearer via Twitter on Saturday:

“Nowhere near good enough Newcastle United today.

“Sell our club Mr Ashley to someone who wants to be here before it’s too late again.”

Alan Shearer talking on MOTD 2 – Sunday night:

“People outside of Newcastle think the problem is what is happening on the pitch but it is what is happening off the pitch as well.

“I think there is a lack of respect to staff, to fans, to former players, to managers.

“They had their 125 years celebrations yesterday (Saturday). When you look at the number of (former) players that were on the pitch at half-time, that tells you there is a lack of respect to a lot of people out there.

“So the fans feel that their money is not being invested enough and they want somebody at the football club who wants to be there, to take the football club forward.

“They would rather have a different situation now and try something different because at the minute they don’t feel like they are getting anywhere.”

‘Do you also agree that as a promoted club, like Huddersfield and Brighton, it will be a bit of a struggle this season?’

“They get fifty two thousand every week, so you can’t compare them with Huddersfield and Brighton.”

‘But I can compare them on the pitch can’t I?’

“You can do but that is what I am saying.

“When you compare the attendances from the other clubs to Newcastle United, fifty two thousand every week, week in week out. Fifty two thousand in the Championship, that is why they are not happy.”

  • Big boy

The only person with no respect for players is Benitez. He signed a lot of them and now he’s saying they aren’t good enough week in week out. You don’t need superstars to sit with 10 men behind the ball every game like he wants too.

    • Leazes Ender

There’s no getting away from it.

    • justchampion

He bought players that would get us promoted. He is now lumbered with those players, many of whom are not capable at this level.

    • Arty Hume

Rafa bought players he was allowed to by with a shoestring budget, they were the only ones he could get. Do you really think he wanted Dear-me and Jossy lue? He was hog tied lied to and caught in the emotions of the fans who adore him. The damage was done before Rafa got here, just think what he could have done with the money MCClown had??? However as usual the management waited to long to act, just like now come to think of it. Why, wel because history is going to repeat its self and we are going to be relegated. The only satisfaction to be taken from this is Ashley is going to loose a fortune on his stupid valuation, the club will be worth less than £100m by the summer. The disaster is we the fans will have to endure the fallout from all this. If I was Ms Staveley I would be pulling out of the deal now as even if it went through we would need at least £200m just to keep our heads above water, thats how bad our once great club has fallen, heavens above, compared to Huddersfield and Brighton???? Shouldnt even be in the same sentence, we have history and pedigree which has been trodden into the ground these last 10 years, all Ashleys doing……

Well done Jackie for writing this piece I wanted a place to have a go at the BBC’s Mark Chapman….

How dare this mancunian nobody suggest that United should consider themselves alongside Brighton and as ‘ New boys’ in this division on the One Hundred and Twenty Fifth anniversary of our clubs Name Change…. not as the commentator implied foundation of the club…. it is also the 125th anniversary of the move to St James Park.

How dare you imply our level of attainment, who the hell are you?

This club has supplied some of the greatest footballers ever to grace Match of the Day and kept a supply going from the terraces as well when you think of the Charltons, Carrick, Kennedy we’ve been a supply ship for the likes of your MOTD favorites too Tottenham, with Waddle, Gascoigne, Ginola. etc.

United held the crowd record for the most people through the gates until it was beaten by Manure in the 70s…. the first club in the world to get a million through the gates in a season….

….Where was the BBC tribute to one of the great football clubs of the world…. on its celebratory day…. I looked on Football focus…. nothing…. MOTD nothing MOTD2 nothing…..

How dare you and the BBC treat United fans with this level of disrespect….the same contempt as our present owner and Chairman!

Shame on the Match of the day producers for highlighting yet another Lancashire derby day.

And finally thank you Alan Shearer for calling Mark Chapmans club ‘Manchester United’ not ‘United’…. that probably irked the ‘home boy’

    Up yours Chapman…. scumbag!

    • John

Why would you get a tv programme “celebrating” 125 years of being a club? Join the rest of the clubs who haven’t made a big deal about it. You think the footballing world owes you a favour because you have a big following. You’re worse than the 2 teams who came up with you, at least they try and play football.

      • Steve Smith

        Obsessed.

      • Leazes Ender

Dear John….. We joined the league on the same day as Liverpool and Arsenal and despite winning nothing, kept going…. the fans have been trying to drive the club forward to a level of at least ‘trying’

Very hard when the bias of the media has favourites…. the BBC never looked beyond London and Manchester…. and your local journalist support Liverpool.

United aren’t a citywide club they are a regional club….. and I know you won’t understand this because you don’t have the geordie Reiver gene…. No club is so much the focus of a bond as United and its environment.

Other clubs are highlighted to mark significant events….. the BBC knew this occasion and snubbed it.

You are obviously from the TV generation of fans….. I feel sorry for you that you will never experience the bond of partisan support that I grew up with.

        • Whitehurst

Type of fan who probably changes allegiance every season too!! Apparently Man City are quite good this season?

          Again,, well said, brilliant sentiments,
Sick and tired of the media (and the Ashley backers on here) looking for any excuse to have a go at are once great club…
I would like to hear more of this of shearer also,,

      • Whitehurst

You’ve got no idea mate….I’m surprised you didn’t wheel out the “deluded” word in your reply fella! You simply just don’t get it! Keep being fair weather!!

    • hetonmag

One of the best post’s you have ever done well said.

    • Dillon Tovak

Chapman is a t!t but I doubt he has any input into what they talk about on MOTD.

      • Leazes Ender

He was aggressive towards Shearers assertion that the current running of the club wasn’t good enough…. Football Focus gave Judas Jenas the opportunity to state ‘Spurs should be looking to build year on year’ and United (another club he played for) should have lower expectations.

The message coming from Salford Quays by the MOTD team is loud and clear….

        • Rich Lawson

          ”Judas Jenas” ,love it.

    • Cockneytrev

      Absolutely Brilliant,,, well said,,👍👍👍

    • Rich Lawson

      Inspirational post !

    • Gallowgate Dave

Chapman showed he was at best completely ignorant of our club, or at worst as thick as they come, when I heard him describe Mike Ashley as “honest” on Radio 5Live. Dear me. I’d be happy to dismiss the ramblings of someone that daft if he didn’t have a national platform with our license paying money.

    • Peaky Magpie

      Great write Leazes 👍👍👍

    • magpiefifer

Chapman is of the same calibre as Lineker – the BBC are a law unto themselves, and we shouldn’t be shackled into paying a licence fee for the rubbish that they spout!

    • Haitchdee

Spot on Leazes,Best post of yours I’ve read.🖒🖒🖒

  • Andynufc

Seriously I can’t stand Mark Chapman. Always looking to interrupt someone when they’re mid sentence with is condescending questions. He clearly has a southern media type opinion about Newcastle’s fans. Idiot

  • Thefootballerwhocouldfly

Who the f*^¥ is Mark Chapman?!
I raise my glass to Jackie & Leazes Ender.
