On Wednesday we asked supporters the question – ‘When will the Newcastle takeover happen by…if at all?’

This was always going to be a tough long season but undoubtedly the will it/won’t sell has added a whole new dimension to the stress levels.

Mike Ashley insisted he wanted the club sold by Christmas…

Much talk in the newspapers and of course headlines claiming new updates as to progress but you believe what you want.

Can a Newcastle Takeover really happen whilst the club are involved in a relegation battle?

Does the relegation battle mean one or both sides will see a need for all of the more urgency to get the deal completed as soon as possible?

So what did Newcastle fans think?

So thanks to everybody who took the time to answer the question ‘When will the Newcastle Takeover happen by?, and here are the results:

7% Takeover by Christmas 2017

16% Takeover by end of February 2018

8% Takeover by end of May 2018

7% Takeover by end of July 2018

62% It won’t happen – Mike Ashley still in charge when 2018/19 season kicks off

I am as cynical/sceptical as they come but even I was surprised to see as many as 62% don’t think there will be any Newcastle takeover, or at least nothing happening before next season kicks off.

With 8% saying by the end of May 2018 and 7% by the end of July 2018, altogether that means 77% don’t see anything happening before the end of the season.

The more optimistic saw 7% believing that we will get good news in the next few days, with another 16% saying by the end of February 2018.

Personally, I thought it would be a lot more mixed with maybe half the Newcastle fans thinking the takeover will happen in the next month or two, then roughly the same numbers thinking it would take longer, or not happening at all.

Let’s hope the minority prove the rest of us wrong.

Sometimes i wonder if Rafa`s selections are to spite the Pie Man & bend his will to speed up a sale, then i think nobody could be as stupid as to gamble with the clubs premiership status because of a grudge.

Or maybe he’s ‘doing an Allardyce’.

  • Your mum

It is massively biased really because of peoples opinions of MA. People see him as evil and just trying to spite the fans when in reality he probably wants out just as much as we want him out.

People only seem to read what they want to read, last week it was reported that good progress was being made, it also went on to say that MA was on holiday before and over the xmas period. People seem to have forgotten this and because they haven’t heard anything for a week they think it’s all off and he’s poison/cancer etc.

People need to think of the scale of the purchase too, a house purchase takes months, so why would they think you can buy a football club in a matter of days. They just make the rest of the supporters look thick!

I see you read the Mag while you’re on holiday then Mike

    • Leazes Ender

Yes he’s on Holiday in the Caribbean til the new year…. it didn’t stop the media saying stuff like progress was being made…. its nonsense, the whole charade is a bluff.

The speed of a club takeover, well Ashley bought United in a week, and the Monsour’s took a month…. this has been going on for 3 months since the due-diligence stage.

      • osmosis

He’s in London, crowing about all the deals he’s about to complete due to proving to the bank he has funds..wonder where they came from

        • Leazes Ender

Jeez one report says he’s in the Carib for crimmy and another differs.

He has funds…. MASH had over £500m in the lasts accounts….

      • Oooh bobbi fleckman

And to think the accusation was that comments “just make the rest of the supporters look thick”, I wonder who this may refer to?

      • Geordiegiants

He was in for us months earlier, it’s all been proven.

    • Paul Patterson

Believe me, if an offer of 400m plus came in the holiday he is on wouldn’t matter a jot. And there are such things as phones . .
