The bookies have acted after Newcastle United made it eight defeats and one draw from the last nine games.

Only one point from twenty seven and for the first time Newcastle have been made one of the three clubs the bookies believe are most likely to go down.

Newcastle United are now 6/4 for relegation and are favourites to make the drop with West Brom (13/8) and Swansea (2/7).

If West Brom get a surprise result against Man Utd on Sunday and/or Swansea do the same at Everton on Monday, the odds could even plunge further.

When the final whistle blows on Saturday 13 January (NUFC v Swansea), Newcastle will have played five more games and four of them are against West Ham, Brighton, Stoke and West Ham.

Ironic that it is defeat to Arsenal which has led to Newcastle being one of the three clubs that bookies think will go down, the turning point of course due to the other results happening as well on Saturday, with Crystal Palace, West Ham and Huddersfield all getting surprisingly convincing away victories.

Odds on Premier League relegation:

2/7 Swansea

6/4 Newcastle United

13/8 West Brom

15/8 Brighton

3/1 Huddersfield Town

3/1 Crystal Palace

3/1 Bournemouth

3/1 Stoke City

4/1 West Ham

16/1 Southampton

We are certainties with this squad. We needed five quality players in the summer but got bargain buy hopeful punts and a promising championship player. We still need them but this owner won’t provide them either because of arrogance or stupidity or both.
