West Brom fans comment on Newcastle and their supporters after 2-2 draw

When they went 2-0 up, West Brom fans must have thought they were going to see their first Premier League win in 101 days.

Less than 40 minutes later they were desperately hanging on for a draw.

Whilst some West Brom fans had positive things to say about Newcastle’s travelling support, fair to say they didn’t feel the same way about the visiting team…or their own side.

A poor game between two poor sides sprang to life once the goals started going in, a better match to watch than probably most people expected, with Newcastle fans marginally happier with the result – especially in the way it came about.

West Brom fans comment via West Brom Forum:

‘One of the worst opposition teams I’ve seen at the Hawthorns in a long time and we threw away a two goal lead.’

‘I have seen enough of this team to know I’m worried about going down this year, no leadership on the pitch, they look mentally fragile.

As soon as Newcastle got the first it was painfully obvious they would score again and I’m surprised they didn’t grab another.

To give away a 2 goal lead against that team at home when they looked dead and buried is a disgraceful result.’

‘Poor and hopefully the last we see of Megson at this club. His time was up 10 years ago.’

‘Absolutely criminal the way we gave it away there.

Knew we weren’t going to win as soon as I saw McClean coming on.’

‘Gave away a 2-0 lead against a poor Newcastle team, not good.

Defense was dodgy.’

Good luck Alan Pardew, you’re going to need it.’

‘All this tells us is that we have to get three goals now to win a game. Rubbish.’

‘Basically threw away a free win as far as I’m concerned.’

‘Every time we go 2-0 up I expect us not to win, surely we must be the worst team in the country for giving up 2-0 leads over the past few years?’

‘Very disappointing to say the least. But their first came from a poor decision and should have been an Albion ball and the second was more to do with bad luck than bad defending.’

‘I know there is a lot of negative comments on here and I wasn’t at the game and didn’t even see it but after playing rubbish football for so long, isn’t two draws in succession just a bit better than four losses on the trot.’

‘A much, much better nights football, despite the slightly disappointing result, than we have seen at the Hawthorns for a very long time

We can actually pass the ball to each other along the ground with a reasonable degree of accuracy even if much of it was in our own half.’

‘ONLY WBA can play a team at home that must have been severely lacking in confidence, had lost the previous 4 games, gave us a 2 goal start and STILL NOT MANAGED TO WIN !!!’

‘Biggest issue tonight was confidence, players started brightly and seemed to play a bit more freely but, as soon as the 1st Newcastle goal went in, everyone in the ground “knew” we weren’t going to win.

Think the crowd were more subdued than I expected as well, which, for me, is also down to confidence.

Pardew needs to come in and give us a bit of confidence and belief.’

A poor Newcastle side were there to be well beaten last night but in the end were probably looking the side most likely to win  it.’

‘The geordies were bang on when they chanted 2-0 and you effed it up.’

Against Newcastle at home, at no stage during the game should we ever be playing 5 at the back, not starting with it nor reverting to it.’

‘Just wanted to say how impressed I was with the Georgie support last night….. proper fans travelling all that way on a school night!’

‘Both those teams will be lucky not to get relegated.’

‘McClean has now cost us 3 wins from coming on this season, absolute liability.’
