Slaven Bilic sacked at last but quite bizarre when it comes to replacement lined up
Slaven Bilic has at last been put out of his misery.
West Ham announcing on Monday morning that he has been sacked.
No surprise there, the Hammers winning only two of their 11 Premier League matches and they looked easily the worst team Newcastle have faced, when the Magpies beat them 3-0 at St James Park.
A bigger surprise though is the replacement West Ham have lined up.
Newcastle fans had worried that Rafa Benitez could be targeted, after being linked for some time with the job in the media. Especially with the lack of backing Rafa has had from Mike Ashley.
However, West Ham are widely reported to have David Moyes lined up to come in.
The bookies have him at odds of 1/20 as it is seen as a foregone conclusion, Alan Pardew at 9/1 is second favourite…as if that is going to happen after the mess he made there previously.
Both Newcastle and Sunderland fans will be laughing at David Moyes set to get the job, as since leaving Everton he has been a disaster at Manchester United, Real Sociedad, and finally Sunderland.
The Mackems were one of the worst teams ever seen in the Premier League, as they crashed to relegation with only 24 points, before David Moyes departed in the aftermath.
He has to also take significant credit for providing the platform that sees Sunderland now rock bottom of the Championship!
West Ham are currently third bottom and it would be nice to think that David Moyes can help keep them down there, helping to ensure Newcastle’s survival this season is as comfortable as possible.
West Ham official statement:
‘West Ham United can confirm that Slaven Bilic has today left his position with the Club.
The Chairmen and board of West Ham United would like to place on record their thanks and gratitude to Slaven and his team for their services over the past two-and-a-half years, but believe a change is now necessary in order for the Club to move forward positively and in line with their ambition.
West Ham United can confirm that Bilic’s coaching assistants Nikola Jurcevic, Edin Terzic, Julian Dicks and Miljenko Rak have also left the Club with immediate effect.
The Club’s search for a new manager to take West Ham United forward is underway and an announcement regarding Bilic’s successor is expected to be made over the coming days.’
