Ray Wilkins has been assessing Newcastle’s performance on Saturday.

Rafa’s team playing well in the first half but couldn’t find a goal, then they couldn’t find their form after the break and lost the game in injury time to a Steve Cook headed goal from a corner.

Ray Wilkins declaring Ray ‘I’ve not been overly impressed by Newcastle this season’.

The former England and Chelsea midfielder praises Rafa Benitez for his defensive organisation but says ‘…attacking-wise I haven’t been blown away’.

Talking to Sky Sports, Ray Wilkins has also graded all 20 clubs on their performances this weekend.

Despite losing at home to Bournemouth (who received an ‘A’) who were 19th before Saturday’s match, rather bizarrely he still gives Newcastle a ‘B’.

West Ham are the lowest rated with a ‘D’ after their hammering at home by Liverpool, whilst Watford are rated only a ‘C’ despite being unlucky to lose away at Everton.

A Bournemouth, Burnley, Huddersfield, Brighton, Liverpool, Tottenham, Man City, Everton, Chelsea

B Newcastle United, Leicester, Stoke, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Man Utd

C Southampton, Swansea, Arsenal, Watford

D West Ham

Ray Wilkins speaking to Sky Sports:

“Newcastle – B

“Newcastle, playing at St James Park against Bournemouth, you’d probably expect them to win.

“I’ve not been overly impressed by Newcastle this season.

“I think Rafa Benitez has them organised extremely well defensively, but attacking-wise I haven’t been blown away.”
