This Premier League form table ahead of West Brom v Newcastle tells us everything

The Premier League form table tells its own story for both Newcastle United and West Brom.

The Baggies may have got a very valuable point at Wembley on Saturday but that hasn’t taken them off the bottom of this form table.

That draw bringing to an end four defeats in a row but meaning still only two points from the last 18.

Newcastle may be third bottom of this form league but they are now on their own four game losing streak, a point at Southampton and that late Merino winner against Palace the only saving  graces.

This is a real six pointer even at this stage of the season, as a defeat to West Brom would very much rubber stamp that Newcastle are definitely in a relegation scrap, if you needed any further proof.

Their recent form has been a little like Newcastle’s, not much in many games with not many goals. The exception being the four goal hammering at home to Chelsea, whilst they showed some character to score late on and  make it only a 3-2 win to Manchester City at the Hawthorns.

The home side haven’t won since August and even after that draw at Spurs and the imminent arrival of a new manager giving them some extra impetus, it would be a massive blow for Newcastle if they allowed the Baggies to win their first game in three months.

Goals have been difficult to get for both clubs with only four each in these last half dozen games. The first goal in any match is important but you have to feel that in this one it will almost certainly decide the game.

Here is the Premier League form table which covers the past six matches for all teams:
