Premier League form table ahead of Newcastle v Watford
The Premier League form table shows that both Newcastle United and Watford have seen results drop after promising starts to the season.
Newcastle kicked off with nine points from the first half dozen games and Watford were even better, picking up 11 points.
However, as the table shows below, the next half dozen matches have seen those points returns drop to only seven for Watford and five for Newcastle.
Newcastle have now seen three defeats in a row whilst Watford ended their ow three game losing streak with a return to form and 2-0 home victory over West Ham at home on Sunday.
Whilst their results have taken a down turn, Watford continue to score goals. In these last six games they have scored two in all of them apart from the poor 1-0 home loss to Stoke. Over the course of the 12 matches, the Hornets have also scored two goals in all six away matches.
In contrast, Newcastle continue to struggle for goals and have scored five in the last six games, only Southampton away seeing them score more than one in the 2-2 draw.
Looking beyond Saturday, the Premier League form table gives us two very contrasting opposition form figures for Newcastle’s opponents.
West Brom (Newcastle travel to on Tuesday night) are reportedly set to name Alan Pardew as their new boss and they are rock bottom when it comes to the last six games, losing the last four. Indeed they haven’t won in their last 10 Premier League matches. They are at Wembley against Spurs this weekend and are unlikely to change their luck there.
In contrast, Newcastle visit a Chelsea team on Saturday who have won all their last four matches, although they have a tough away match at Chelsea on Saturday.
Here is the Premier League form table which covers the past six matches for all teams:
Watford’s last six results with latest one listed first;
Watford 2 West Ham 0
Everton 3 Watford 2
Watford 0 Stoke 1
Chelsea 4 Watford 2
Watford 2 Arsenal 1
Swansea 1 Watford 2
Newcastle’s last six results also listed with the latest result first;
Man Utd 4 Newcastle 1
Newcastle 0 Bournemouth 1
Newcastle 1 Crystal Palace 0
Southampton 2 Newcastle 2
Newcastle 1 Liverpool 1
