Newcastle United Director thinks Rafa best manager in league but needs Mike Ashley to move out

Mike Ashley needs to move aside and allow new ambitious owners to take over.

A view that is shared universally by Newcastle fans as they wait to see if there is any substance in reports/claims of ongoing talks, signing of NDAs (non-disclosure agreements), and examining of the club’s books.

Newcastle United Director Bobby Moncur believes the club have got the best manager in the Premier League.

He also believes new ambitious owners are needed.

Moncur believing that Rafa is performing minor miracles with the squad he has been left with after a lack of investment in the summer, the NUFC Director saying he would have ‘snapped your hand off’ if offered 11th before the season kicked off.

In the strange world of Newcastle United, the board – for what it is worth, consists of two directors: Lee Charnley and Bobby Moncur, going down from four after Steve McClaren was sacked and then Graham Carr departed.

Any new owners would surely see as a priority putting right the shambles off the pitch as well as much-needed investment on it.

A proper fully functioning board as well as recruitment of the best possible professional off-pitch team to drive the club forward in terms of bringing in revenue.

Bobby Moncur says that billionaire Mike Ashley ‘can’t afford to take’ Newcastle United any further.

For the fans, they know the club can’t afford to continue with Ashley owning it, as relegation/disaster is guaranteed to be never far away.

I just hope that this time Mike Ashley is genuine in trying to sell NUFC.

If he isn’t willing to accept a fair price then it won’t be sold.

If he is ready to accept that fair price now, then it will be sold – just like countless other clubs (Liverpool, West Brom, Aston Villa etc etc)  have been sold.

Bobby Moncur speaking to the Shields Gazette:

Mike Ashley has said ‘I can’t afford to take it any further’…he is quite happy to hand it on to somebody else who can.

“If there’s a takeover, hopefully there will be more investment, which would make Rafa’s job a bit easier.

“If you had said to me that at this stage of the season we’d be 11th, I’d have snapped your hand off.

“Raa has done a great job with the squad he’s got, he is a great manager.

“I think the whole city and the club has been buoyed up by Rafa.

“We have got the best manager in the land as far as I’m concerned and he’s doing a great job with what he’s got.”
