There have been 10 nominations for Premier league signing of the season.

Sky Sports are asking fans to pick one of these 10 signings from the summer as proving the best so far.

Newcastle United’s Mikel Merino is one of the 10 put forward.

Instrumental in the three wins in a row against West Ham, Swansea and Stoke, Mikel Merino last started a game when Newcastle picked up a credible draw at home to Liverpool.

Since then a back problem meant that Rafa Benitez had to use him sparingly as a sub before resting him completely, Merino though still managing to come on and score the winner against Crystal Palace though.

Rafa Benitez revealed on Friday that the Spanish Under 21 star would be back in training this week and if pain free, could be considered for Watford on Saturday.

Sky Sports write up on Mikel Merino:

“Merino initially joined Newcastle on a season-long loan from Borussia Dortmund, but the club opted to make that permanent in October after a string of impressive performances.

“The defensive midfielder has put in more tackles per game (2.9) than any other Newcastle player.”

Below are the 10 nominations for Premier League signing of the season, before each name is the percentage vote they have by 8am on Monday morning.

As you can see, Mikel Merino can do with your help!

Wor kid says Real & Barca will be in for him in the New Year

  • Wor Lass

I`ll vote for him but, to be honest, he`s got a long way to go to compete with the likes of Salah and Matic. What makes him different from those two, though, is the way he`s stepped from obscurity into the first team and from the Bundesliga to the EPL – and he`s looked instantly at home. Let`s just hope the club sale goes through and we end up with owners who have the ambition to keep him.

I’d rather not draw attention to him any more than we need.
