After four defeats in a row, we asked Newcastle fans a simple question earlier today.

Would you take a point at West Brom?

With a difficult set of fixtures following as well, Chelsea up next at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

So even though West Brom are bottom of the form league (2 points from the last 18 – Newcastle have 4 from 18), would you take a point if offered now, to steady the ship?

It was a very clear response with:

68% saying yes they’d take a point.

32% saying no and gambling on what happens at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night.

Quite surprised at just how many, almost 7 out of 10, that said they would take a point.

However, the reality is that it would mean 15 points from 14 games and ensure Newcastle stayed three points clear of West Brom who are currently fourth bottom. Whilst also hopefully edging a further point ahead of the bottom three – West Ham in 18th are currently four points behind Newcastle.

These are the next seven matches that face Newcastle over the course of the next month:

West Brom v Newcastle – Tuesday 28 November (8pm)

Chelsea v Newcastle – Saturday 2 December (12.30pm)

Newcastle v Leicester – Saturday 9 December (5.30pm)

Newcastle v Everton – Wednesday 13 December (7.45pm)

Arsenal v Newcastle – Saturday 16 December (3pm)

West Ham v Newcastle – Saturday 23 December (3pm)

Newcastle v Man City – Wednesday 27 December (7.45pm)

No Fear, Go for the 3

Bang on Capt’ Moose. I don’t care what any of those DOOM merchants say, this is our best hope of 3pts in the next few games, before Pardew gets his feet under West Brom’ and the obvious new Everton manager just before we play them !!

  • Paul Busby

Would i take it? Sure. Is it a good result? No, we should be taking 3 points.

End of the day any points is better than none but damnit, the lads need to pull their socks up and their jock strap out

Look at it from their point of view. A home win against what is essentially still a championship team and they will go above us if they can win 2-0. They will have some daylight between themselves and the bottom three. If we win, we keep a relegation rival well below us and lift ourselves back into mid-table. The players need to not underestimate the importance of this game like they did Watford. Chelsea will be a free hit and is irrelevant compared to this game, we are not playing in the same league as Chelsea, Man U and City. But we are with West Brom, Bournemouth, Brighton and Huddersfield (who have all beaten us already).

      We are cannon fodder.

We are playing a side who have kept one clean sheet (against the MIghty Hammers!!) since the middle of August and none since the middle of September. Their confidence will be as fragile as ours at the back, so surely we go at them from the first whistle. The worst thing we can do is encourage them by sitting off them and allowing them to get a foothold in the game.
