Newcastle fans predict team to exceed Rafa Benitez points challenge – but not by much
Newcastle fans have responded to Rafa Benitez’ points challenge.
Rafa Benitez has said he wants a minimum of six points from these next half dozen matches to take Newcastle to 20 points (or better) from the first 19 games.
After four defeats in a row, it is a challenge for the players of Newcastle United to now pick themselves up and get back on track.
A trip to the Hawthorns tonight is the first of six games spread over a 25 day stretch which takes us up to Christmas and that halfway point of the season.
So we asked Newcastle fans to vote on how many points they thought Newcastle would pick up from these next six matches:
West Brom v Newcastle – Tuesday 28 November (8pm)
Chelsea v Newcastle – Saturday 2 December (12.30pm)
Newcastle v Leicester – Saturday 9 December (5.30pm)
Newcastle v Everton – Wednesday 13 December (7.45pm)
Arsenal v Newcastle – Saturday 16 December (3pm)
West Ham v Newcastle – Saturday 23 December (3pm)
Voting has now ended and the final results are (number of points and percentage of votes from Newcastle fans):
18 – 0%
16 – 0%
15 – 0%
14 – 0%
13 – 0%
12 – 2%
11 – 1%
10 – 5%
9 – 3%
8 – 17%
7 – 17%
6 – 14%
5 – 17%
4 – 12%
3 – 4%
2 – 3%
1 – 2%
0 – 2%
Interesting results and 77% of Newcastle fans have gone with a total that is between four and eight points.
Rafa wanted at least six points and the supporters believe that will be exceeded – but by a very small margin, with all the votes averaging out at just a fraction over six points.
I think to achieve six points, Newcastle have to win two of the four matches against West Brom, Everton, West Ham and Leicester, as I can’t see the Magpies going undefeated in these four games. I’m not even looking at Chelsea and Arsenal as part of this equation!
A defeat at the Hawthorns would undoubtedly see the points predictions tumble, essential Rafa’s team can bounce back and get something tonight.
