Marco Silva did a remarkable job last season at Hull City, very nearly keeping them in the Premier League after joining midway through the season and inheriting a hopeless position.

Watford aren’t shy of looking for a new promising manager and they headhunted the Hull boss, then backed him in the summer transfer market.

He has produced an exciting attacking team who score goals as well as conceding them.

Currently in eighth position, Watford have scored 19 goals and conceded 21, with £30m having been spent to bring in real pace up front on strikers Richarlison and Andre Gray.

No surprise then to see Everton reported to have made a number of approaches to try and land Marco Silva but almost five weeks after Koeman’s departure, the Toffees are still without a new boss.

Thursday afternoon has seen Marco Silva take his pre-match Newcastle press conference….

About the claimed Everton approaches Silva stated ‘I won’t give you one more word about this situation’.

The Hornets boss saying ‘I am here to talk about our match, Newcastle v Watford, nothing more’.

Marco Silva:

“I will answer straight.

I’m sure the thought of facing the Hoss and SloMo (I suspect he will be Hayden’s replacement) has focussed his mind on things other than Everton’s interest…for 5 minutes at least
