Jose Mourinho claims 3 key players ‘ready to play’ but will Pogba, Rojo and Ibrahimovic face Newcastle?
Jose Mourinho was in a positive mood on Friday afternoon.
The Manchester United manager declaring that three long-termed injured are now ‘ready to play’.
Whether they actually have any involvement at all tomorrow is dubious though.
Between Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo and Ibrahimovic, they have a total of 45 minutes play between them.
That came when Rojo took part in a reserve match in midweek.
None of the three will start on Saturday and if any of them make the bench, it will surely be just an attempt by Jose Mourinho to gee both fans and the team up, after winning only one of their last four Premier League matches.
Earlier, Mourinho was full of praise for Rafa Benitez and claimed there was real animosity between them, just normal rivalry between clubs.
Benitez himself has now confirmed the likes of Atsu, Lascelles and Merino all definitely miss the Man Utd game but Merino could be back for Watford.
Manchester United looked very good with Paul Pogba in the side early this season and Jose Mourinho says ‘clearly you can see’ the difference when he is in the side.
“The players that stayed here recovering from injuries, even the ones that are recovering from big injuries, they are ready to play.
“Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo.
“Paul Pogba you can see…clearly you can see there was a Manchester United this season, before and after his injury.
“He has the qualities that influence our approach in matches.
“Last season we played with Zlatan every minute but we have learned how to play without him.
“Of course we welcome him back – he is an incredible personality.”
