Aston Villa fans react to Mohamed Diame interest

Aston Villa fans are relieved not to be yet another relegation struggle this time around.

However, sitting  in sixth place currently, they are in the play-off positions but nine points off top spot and seven points off automatic promotion.

Steve Bruce has indicated that he will be trying to strengthen the squad to give it that extra push – but this will be using limited funds.

The Villa boss has been strongly linked with a January move for Mohamed Diame,, the pair having combined at Hull two seasons ago when winning promotion – the midfielder scoring 10 goals.

Interested to see such positivity from most Aston Villa fans in comments below!

Aston Villa fans commenting via Villa Talk message board:

‘Heard we are linked with Diame. Would be a very good signing.’

‘Diame on loan yes bloody please!’

Diame yes.  Big, strong, can hold the ball up, bully defenders etc.  He’d do a good job share with Onomah as that powerful no.10 behind Davis or Kodjia.’

‘Diame  would be yet another old player, here for a payday, blocking our kids. No thanks.’

‘He’s bagged 1 assist this season, his pass completion rate is about the same and his defensive contribution is clearly lower.’

Aston Villa fans commenting via the Birmingham Mail:

“Better option than Whelan and would mean Hourihane and Lansbury can actually play as the attacking Midfielders they are.”

“Na, wouldn’t offer anything more or any better than what we have so what’s the point and to be honest, I’d rather not have another Steve Bruce reunion thanks.”

‘Yep I would indeed, way better than Lansbury – well that’s not hard.”

“It’s a player we need.”

“I’d try loan him for the rest of the season, no point buying.”

“I would snap him up in January, he’s a good player who scores goals.”

“Yeah, big powerful option! Good at set-pieces – depends how we going to line up.”
