Yesterday we asked you the question…Which 11 players would you pick in Newcastle team v Manchester United?

We put together a list of the 20 players who could potentially be selected on Saturday.

The likes of Mikel Merino, Paul Dummett, Christian Atsu, and Jamaal Lascelles, all left out of the list as they are widely reported to be missing the game through injury.

We had seven players that got 88% or more backing from Newcastle supporters, the likes of Florian Lejeune, Ciaran Clark and Isaac Hayden seeing their places cemented for certain by injuries to Lascelles and Merino.

We then though maybe get to the more interesting/contentious ones….

Aleksandar Mitrovic is eighth highest with 79%, though fans would also have Dwight Gayle (62%) in the team.

With Atsu set to miss out, Rolando Aarons (65%) is the big choice to play ahead of Murphy (21%) or Perez (38%) who could also potentially play there.

Then we have the problematic left-back position. Paul Dummett is still some weeks away from returning and after doing well there until dropped totally from the squad, Chancel Mbemba (63%) is the clear fan choice to play at Old Trafford.

Here is the percentage support for each player from the thousands of votes cast, then an image of how this fan selected team would potentially look:

99% Jonjo Shelvey

99% Matt Ritchie

98% DeAndre Yedlin

95% Rob Elliot

94% Florian Lejeune

92% Isaac Hayden

88% Ciaran Clark

79% Aleksandar Mitrovic

65% Rolando Aarons

63% Chancel Mbemba

If we’ve got any first teamers carrying slight injuries or close to a suspension, I’d leave them out. We’re not going to get anything from this match anyway.

Probably correct but should never go into a game with that mindset mate, I went to Old Trafford when cabaye scored, remember the taxi driver on the way down to town to get the coach saying I was mad saying that I had a sneaky feeling we might get something today, and I have the same feeling tomorrow!

Fair enough. I remember going to Anfield in 1988 when we hadn’t won there for 34 years, Liverpool were the best team in the country at the time, we were bottom of the league without a win and had just been stuffed 3-0 by then third division Sheffield United in the League Cup and of course the rest is history.

MIRANDINAH!!!!! I loved that he goaded the kop, I thought that was a turning point but that was like McClaren’s team, never got momentum. We even got a point at home against Liverpool with ‘dinah and the worst striker I’ve ever seen in b&w Frank Pingel scoring. If nowt else, we stopped Liverpool from winning the title and the rot set in for them.

Would you have said that for our last away game at Manure? We’ve not done badly in the last 4 aways to them, only once we’re we well beat.

4-4-2, not going to happen against the Manks

There’s no way we’ll play 4-4-2 at Old Trafford. Usual formation for Rafa, one up top, probably Gayle. I like the look of this back 4 though
