Maybe other clubs do have it as bad but when it comes to extreme shocking statistics Newcastle United seem to have more than their fair share.

Thankfully, Newcastle have avoided the Monday night TV slot so far this season but tomorrow sees them face Burnley at Turf Moor.

As well as trying to beat a disciplined Sean Dyche team, Newcastle will also be attempting to overturn yet another negative run of form.

It is only two months short of six years since NUFC won a game away from home on a Monday.

In 13 attempts they haven’t won a single one, a record of 12 defeats and one draw, even that solitary draw was over five years ago, with 11 losses since then.

The last Monday away match was the 3-1 defeat at Ipswich and in the seven games before that, Newcastle didn’t even score a single goal.

The last time Newcastle United won on a Monday on their travels was Boxing Day 2011.

Goals from Hatem Ben Arfa and Demba Ba eventually overcame a shocking Bolton side who went on to be relegated, whilst Newcastle finished fifth.

Turning it into a positive, maybe if Newcastle beat Burnley…

We’ve never had a manager like Benitez. We’ve never had a team that works as hard. We’ve never had a team that’s as well drilled defensively. So while I agree that historicaly we’ve been naff on Monday’s , we’re a whole different team these days compared to the teams that we’ve had these past 6 years. We haven’t hit lucky every game since the Huddersfield one, we’re in this position cause we’re good ☝️☝️

Every bad run has to come to an end at some point and as StevieB alludes, these past games have all been played with numpty managers who were about as useful as a one legged man in an R’s kicking contest

You weren’t oozed out on a Monday were you Porter – because that’s why I don’t like Mondays!

How the flaming Donald Duck can you remember anything about Boxing Day 2011 unless you were utterly alone playing with a chocolate Santa and singing “I’ve got loads of mates” like you do every Christmas……
