Rangers fans react after Alan Pardew applies for Manager’s job

Alan Pardew has applied for the vacancy at Rangers according to reports.

He has been out of work for over 10 months now following his Palace sacking, let go after posting the worst results throughout 2016 of any manager in the top four English divisions.

Now though, reports in the Scottish media and The Mail say that Pardew’s representatives have put his name forward after contacting the Glasgow club.

Derek McInnes is the odds-on favourite but with significant compensation (by Scottish football standards) needing to be paid if they landed him, Rangers may be looking for somebody who is kicking his heels at the minute.

In the summer, Alan Pardew said that he hoped to pick up a new job when (English) Premier League clubs started to sack their managers this season.

However, Leicester didn’t consider him and Everton won’t be looking in his direction, so you could maybe see why Pardew could fancy the Ibrox job rather than accepting a job in the lower leagues in England.

What do Rangers fans think about the possibility…?

Rangers fans commenting via their top Follow Follow message board:

‘Don’t want him near us.’

‘Hasn’t got the worst record on his CV for the jobs he has done at Newcastle and Palace to name his recent 2.

But he is someone I have just never been able to take to.’

‘Doubt we would seriously consider him. I can see him putting himself forward for the job right enough.’

‘Don’t think he could handle it.’

‘A tough man from South London.

Any nonsense from any player and he will kick their backside.

Not someone to mess with.

I knew him a bit from his Charlton days and was friendly with one of his best mates.

But no disrespect, there are far better managers out there, and even his best mate would agree.’

‘The English Alex Mcleish does well to start with then it all goes wrong when he trys to build his own team.’

‘No chance the board would consider someone so close to Ashley.’

‘We’d be better off with Alan Partridge.’

‘The guy gives me the creeps. absolutely not.’

‘His demeanour should rule him out of being our manager regardless of anything else.’

‘Awful manager.

He can’t handle the pressure at a club like Newcastle, what would he do here?!

One freak season when he got to fifth, other than that his managerial career consists of decent runs for 2 months followed by 6 months of utter rubbish.

Also a bit self-indulgent off camera, so steer well clear.’

‘Text from my Newcastle supporting mate…

He’ll start off like a rocket, have a good season and then he’ll poison you for years, It’s what he does.’

‘That’s in the EPL though remember, Liverpool fans dont have many good words to say about Brenda but he’s the messiah up here.

I can see the board considering this if aberdeen want 1.5mill compo for McInnes.’

‘No chance the board would consider someone so close to Ashley.’

‘Can’t believe we would consider him.’

‘No thanks.’

‘A man who calls himself the king, it wouldn’t end well.’

No way his giant ego would handle the pressure.’

‘Forget his managerial abilities for a second.

Wouldn’t want him anywhere near us. Standards.’

‘A total lunatic as a person but a really good manager in my opinion.’

‘He’s definitely an impact manager. He’d probably be good for eighteen months before some sort of implosion/mental breakdown.’

‘How can you possibly look at Pardew and his record and come out with ‘really good manager’, please tell me.’
