Paul Ince predicts Newcastle v Liverpool

Paul Ince has given his verdict on this afternoon’s match.

The former Liverpool midfielder thinks his old club ‘will win this easy’, if they put their chances away.

The scousers have been dominant in many matches with both possession and shots but have often struggled to convert them into goals and wins.

Against a dismal Crystal Palace outfit, Liverpool had 72% of the possession and 23 shots, yet struggled to a 1-0 home win.

Likewise, two weeks ago they hosted Crystal Palace and the reds had 71% and a massive 35 shots, yet came away with only a point after a 1-1 draw.

Despite playing at home, Newcastle are likely to adopt a similar defending deep and hitting them on the break set of tactics.

The question being whether Liverpool can make the likely territorial advantage count and also, can they keep Newcastle out at the other end.

Paul Ince thinks the visitors will succeed on one front but still concede in a predicted 3-1 win.

Newcastle have only conceded three goals in the eight+ hours of Premier League football this season, when they have had 10 men on the pitch.

I think most people are confident in predicting how the two teams will line up in terms of tactics/formations but as for the outcome of the match, this is more difficult to predict.

Paul Ince speaking to the Express:

“I’m expecting quite an exciting game here, with plenty of goals and lots of noisy fans.

“Liverpool are creating a load of chances at the moment and if they’re clinical with them the will win this easy.

“But let’s be honest, they’ll probably concede too.

“Prediction – Newcastle United 1 Liverpool 3”
