Michael Owen is last man standing with Burnley v Newcastle prediction

Michael Owen has given his considered opinion on tonight’s Burnley v Newcastle match.

Owen using rather dubious statistics to come to his decision.

He refers to Newcastle failing to win in their last four visits to Turf Moor.

These games were a 1-1 draw in 2014 when Papiss Cisse scored for Newcastle, then defeats in the 1982/83 season, as well losing in both 1979/80, and 1978/79.

Games from almost 40 years ago, as relevant as Newcastle’s last win at Burnley which was Boxing Day 1975, Tommy Craig getting the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.

Despite the form of these ‘recent’ visits to Turf Moor, Michael Owen still thinks Rafa’s team ‘should be good value for a point’.

Burnley have drawn four of their last six games and in a match where not many goals will be expected by most, a goal for either side could be enough to take all three points.

Mark Lawrenson predicted a Newcastle win for the first time this season when Palace visited, then he’s followed up with forecasting a 2-1 victory for the Magpies at Burnley.

Even Paul Merson has cracked, for the first time this campaign predicting a victory for Newcastle, also 2-1 for the away team.

However, Michael Owen is standing firm.

With a draw prediction tonight, after 10 games worth of forecasts, Owen is still yet to go for a Newcastle victory.

Michael Owen speaking to BetVictor:

“The Clarets have drawn 4 of their last 6 and Monday’s game looks to have draw written all over it.

Newcastle continue to impress under Rafa Benitez and, although the Magpies are winless in their last four trips to Turf Moor, they should be good value for a point.”
