Lee Clark gets the boot
Former Newcastle United pair Lee Clark and Alan Thompson are now out of a job.
As Newcastle prepared to play Burnley on Monday night, Bury released a statement that confirmed they had parted company with their manager and his assistant.
Eight months ago, Lee Clark left Kilmarnock for League One and Bury survived a drop to League Two by only one place and one point.
This time around, they are second bottom after 16 league matches, with only three wins to their name.
They also had the shame of being one of only two clubs to have lost to Sunderland this season, losing 1-0 at home in the League Cup to the Mackems.
Four defeats in a row being the final straw for the Bury board, losing the final match 1-0 at home to Doncaster on Saturday.
Official Bury FC Statement:
‘Bury Football Club can confirm that after a meeting between the Chairman and Lee Clark, it was decided that Lee would step down as Manager with immediate effect.
As part of the changes, Alan Thompson will also leave his role as Assistant Manager.
The Club wish Lee and Alan all the best for the future.
Lee said that” I have enjoyed my time at Bury enormously and I wish the Board, the players and the supporters all the very best for this season and beyond.”
More information to follow.’
