Jurgen Klopp wasn’t a happy man after the final whistle at St James Park.

The game finishing Newcastle 1 Liverpool 1, despite the scousers dominating possession.

Klopp’s grievances were seemingly endless…

Blaming bad luck, bad officials, and maybe most of all, his own players.

Jurgen Klopp claims he ‘didn’t see one more chance for Newcastle’ apart from the goal.

That is a little over the top as Newcastle engineered a handful of decent situations.

Whilst for Liverpool, there was some desperate defending to keep them out at times but as you can see from the stats below, Rob Elliot had very few actual shots on target to save.

Jurgen Klopp:

“I am disappointed, frustrated, whatever you want…

“Away at Newcastle for each team will be a difficult place to play.

“We scored a wonderful goal and created wonderful chances.

“We shot the ball over the goal even when it was empty.

“We created five or six outstanding, big chances. Usually we score with one of them.

“I didn’t see one more chance for Newcastle.

“Newcastle got one chance and scored. That doesn’t feel too fair.

We had a clear penalty. I don’t know what he has to do – pull the shirt off him?

“If you don’t help yourself no one else helps you. It will be like this until we score.

“We play like this, it makes sense that we play like this, usually we score in situations like this.

“We have to accept this and carry on.”

I thought that was a penalty too Herr Klopp. But I also thought Gomez just as easily could have been tossed off for whatever the hell he was trying to do to Atsu in the 2nd half. At least bad refereeing wasn’t one sided, eh?

Fair assessment…. one of the goals will be a contender for goal of the month, the other wont.

They all count regardless of how they are scored. Some are better on the eye but they still only count for one goal. Thought the lads dug deep today. Desperate at times but we held on. Good point. Goal a bit lucky. We move on.

Yet we had 5 shots on target and they only had 2…. Hmmm

What an ungracious bloke. The decision not to award them a penalty this afternoon was the only decision Liverpool didn’t get off the referee today, he was shocking.
