Gallowgate Flags have announced that they are ceasing to be.

On Friday afternoon they have released a short statement/message via Twitter.

They say they have achieved their objective of getting the Flag displays up and running in the Gallowgate end.

However, they are now stepping aside and ‘a new group will take things forward’.

They have also revealed that ‘over £20,000’ had been donated by fans to make the flag displays happen.

Gallowgate Flags via Twitter:

‘The end of Gallowgate Flags – but not the end of displays.

A new group will take things forward.

Gallowgate Flags has reached a natural end.

We have raised over £20,000 of supporter money to create visual displays to support the team and manager. What started as a plan to get a couple of flags has turned into something much bigger.

We’ve achieved that goal, with Sunday’s display against Liverpool eclipsing anything we thought possible.

Thank you to Lee Marshall and NUFC who made this possible and welcomed us from the very start.

This isn’t the end (of) flag displays on the Gallowgate – all of the flags are still there and will be used.

To clarify @WorHyem1892 will be taking this on + majority of the people behind Gallowgate Flags.

It’s going to be better & bigger than ever.

Also please support  @FlagsLeazes.’

Either Amanda Staveley obviously sees them as some sort of impediment to our forthcoming sale or most likely the fat stinking bag of southern pus just wants rid of them as he’s heard there’s being made that will cover the whole of the Gallowgate end that says “Mike Ashley Is A Cucking Funt”…..

Yeah… bunch of trouble makers if you ask me.

      I apologise in advance…
The gin gas gotten hold o’ me tongue..
      Steve….
Can you not just shut the xx up for two xxing minutes? Just two?

Did you ever hear the expression along the lines of better to keep mouth shut than to remove all doubt?

  • Wor Lass

I wondered when they mentioned Rafa continuing despite the lies he had been subjected to. I can`t imagine ashley taking that calmly.

    • Leazes Ender

Apparently the reference wasn’t to do with Ashley’s lies, but the words to a song that Valencia fans used to sing….. still appropriate though.

      • Wor Lass

I bet Ashley didn`t buy that one!

  • Monkseaton Magpies

I texted them after the Liverpool game saying Gallowgate Flags rest in peace and have been proved right. However they have done a great job but it takes to much work to sort out. That banner was the final nail in the coffin as it created the wrong impression and divided the fans that’s why I sent the text.
Good luck to Leazes Flags as that is even more important as next to the away fans.
It’s important we create an atmosphere on all four sides of the ground but banners
which might be perceived as negative to the club and the team winning the game are not welcome full stop.

It might look nice, but it’s pointless, fair play to them for all their effort, can’t we just sing more during the match instead ?
