  • Asen Aleksiev

it is amazing how two of palace players (zaha and townsend) has more quality than all of our team . It will be massive achievement if we do not go down this campaign

    • João Gabriel B S Santos

And I was thinking about Europa League… Am In dreaming too Michael, right?!

      • Asen Aleksiev

John, i am not mentioning the points and the position, obviously we’re to 6 side now, but do we play as top 6 team ? Could you name one of our players who can make it in any of the teams around us? We can’t fight watford, leicester, burnley, west ham and the table after 8 rounds is kinda stange. We’ve had 2 shots on goal in a home game vs Palaca – is this Europa league class ?!

        • Brazilian John

          Of course you’re right.
But we need to give credit to our lads… They know their quality and They are doing an excelent job!!!
Unfortunately we dont know how long we can keep this position, but let’s enjoy…!!

    • Jezza

I agree entirely. On paper we have got one of the very worst squads in the league. Rafa is performing miracles to have us where we are in the table.

      • Benmagpie

That’s just not true. We probably have one of the best defensive set ups. Lascelles, shelvey, merino, Ritchie, lejeune, Clarke, Atsu, all capable of class. To say we’re the ‘very worst squad’ is a little insulting.

        • Jezza

I did say “on paper” and I didn’t mean any disrespect to the players. They have done exceptionally well so far and have played above themselves. I still maintain that in theory we have got one of the weakest squads in the league and it is a remarkable achievement to get to 6th place in the table at this stage. All credit to Rafa and the players for that.

          • Damon Horner

Curiously, Just out of interest Jezza, 6th place definitely is performing above perceived ability but how long in your view does this team have to keep performing this well to be considered more than “one of the worst squads in the league”?

          • Jezza

Nobody seems to be getting it. I meant we have got one of the worst squads ON PAPER. Obviously our team is performing better than most in the league at this stage but ON PAPER we are seriously lacking in both quality and strength in depth. Our team is over achieving at the minute and all credit to them for that.

          • Damon Horner

Love the conversation… all I was asking is what would need to happen to make somebody reconsider their view on how poor the squad is, that’s all.

      • hetonmag

Rafa wanted a GK a LB a ST he didn’t get them so he has to deal with what he has, but to say we have the worst squad is disrespectful to the lads that pull the shirt on IMHO.

      • Monkseaton Magpies

You promised me relegation with a record number of low points if we beat Burnley week on Monday will meet you on the Tyne Bridge when I get back to save you jumping off.

        • Jezza

You are just making a fool of yourself. Like all NUFC supporters I am delighted to see the team doing so well at this stage. Yes I genuinely believed we’d really struggle this season and it is making me very happy to have been proved wrong so far.

  • Jimblag23

    Diame!

  • Andy Mac

“A game of football threatening to break out” 🤔

    • Wor Lass

      Where?

  • Jimblag23

Wow what a bad football match.
    3 important points though.
Mitro surely to start next week. 🙏
It was generous of Rafa to give Perez and Joselu the afternoon off today. 🙄

  • Peaky Magpie

6th in league is good going considering we are playing without strikers !!!

    • Jezza

Just think where we could now be if Fatso had given Rafa the funds to buy the quality striker he desperately wanted in the summer.

      • Peaky Magpie

Agree,Manquillo worries me as well,2 strikers and a LB a priority in January.Clark,Mbemba or Gamez must be worth a punt until Dummett is fit enough.Like Lejeune mind you.

        • Jezza

Unfortunately there will be no signings in January. Fatso will not release any funds with the team not being in imminent danger of relegation.

          • GToon

If he’s in charge. Fingers crossed he isn’t then we can push on and start to compete again.

      • Monkseaton Magpies

Thanks for Ashley for releasing eight million more to buy Merino who got the winner. Yet more money he has spent just hope he stays but not looking likely now as he wants away. If we become a Blackburn or Villa or Leeds will be quite happy as seen it all before then the Mag will have a street party.

        • Jezza

Yoy just love to make things up don’t you. £8 million for Merino. Give it a rest will you. Merino was signed ON LOAN.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Yes he was signed on loan but thanks to our Chairman Mike Ashley he is now our player as just bought him by putting an extra eight million in so now our player. Yet another great deal by Mike Ashley.

          • Jezza

Has Merino’s move been made into a permanent purchase? If so I must have missed that.

  • Andy Mac

I dont know how Rafa does it but sure as sh….. none of the previous three managers (I use the term loosely) would have got a win today. 🤔

    • Jezza

Rafa is a miracle worker. We should be battling relegation with the squad we’ve got. The fact that we’re in the top six is all down to Rafa. He is probably the best manager we have ever had.

      • TheNutJob

There`s no doubt Rafa`s holding the team together & with any other manager we`d be in the bottom 4. he does the right things at the right time

    • Biggs

The three previous would have been on 0pts

  • Mark Spark

hooray for the team.i thought it was a possible banana skin today,i know ownership talk shouldnt effect players but hey, sometimes stuff like that does despite everybodies best efforts. The mental strength of this team and all round team spirit is excellent.great to see(and its been a while)

  • Peaky Magpie

    26 POINTS TO GO !!!!!!!!

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

We`d be in the top 4 with Karim Benzema or any striker that can hit a barn door
    for that matter

  • Peaky Magpie

I see Sting & Jimmy Nail were at the match.Ryder will be reporting about now they’re buying the club on Monday !

  • Peaky Magpie

    Cabaye,le petit merde !

  • steve pearce

    Ho – Porter!

Wake up man the match finished at 5 to 5!

The referee was definitely a Makem as Joan “Le Petite Merde” Cabaye should have got a straight red card. Disgustingly biased refereeing and I can see a retrospective three game ban for Le Cubit….
