Alan Pardew felt Newcastle had carried the luck after coming away with a 2-2 draw from Southampton.

DeAndre Yedlin was already on a yellow card and after Perez had just put United back in front early in the second half, the right-back slid in on Redmond.

Pardew saying ‘I can’t understand how DeAndre Yedlin stays on the pitch’.

Whilst it could have been a second booking, it was embarrassing how often the Sky Sports commentators and ‘experts’ kept referring back to the incident.

Yet they made nothing of the fact that Gabbiadini tried to cheat his way to a penalty only to be spotted by the referee, the official not giving a yellow for that either.

On the positive side though, Alan Pardew thought ‘Jonjo Shelvey was terrific’ and he thinks Rafa Benitez will ‘definitely be pleased’ with what has happened after he failed to strengthen the squad as much as he would have liked in the summer.

Alan Pardew talking on Sky Sports:

“I can’t understand how DeAndre Yedlin stays on the pitch.

“Even at the time…the reaction of the fans, they knew he had already been booked.

“Rafa Benitez will definitely be pleased.

“He was a little bit despondent with the number of signings he made in the summer but the players he has brought in, have done very well.

“I thought that  Jonjo Shelvey was terrific today.

“Everything was clever and composed, Newcastle look like they have a few more passes in them.

“They are growing in confidence and when you get promoted to the Premier League you need to grow in confidence.

“Those 11 points that they (already) have will give them that.”

Jonjo Showed today what he`s about, he was easily our best player. I do like Mikel but he can`t touch baldy at the moment.

  • David Robinson

I loved it when pardew said you only had to see how the crowd reacted for sky to show the clip with all the lard arses not reacting.

I think we’re annoying a few of the ‘establishment’ and the national media this season. They expected/want us to be struggling in the bottom 5 and think we should be losing games like today’s. Outside of the ‘elite’ top 6, (currently Watford in a false position) there are some very average squads, despite millions being spent. Some of these clubs like S’hampton and Stoke seem to be going backwards.

    • MadMag83

I think a lot of them expect us to struggle due to the lack of investment this summer, coupled with being a newly promoted team and the rumours of Rafa unrest. However we are providing a few doubters wrong, long may it continue. I don’t believe there is any anti NUFC media agenda though, just a couple of Mag journalists with a chip on their shoulder.

    • X,WHY,Y MAN.

I think Newcastle have spoiled The Sky Sports scripted narrative for the season where we were to be served up as their constant whipping boy for their tawdry soap opera !

  • Paul Patterson

Sorry, if ever there was an ‘Opinion Void’ then Alan Pardew is the result.

I do think he has a valid point in truth we were lucky yedlin didn’t get a red card

  • Oooh bobbi fleckman

He was right, he also pointed out that Perez us technically very good which must upset the writers in the Mag.

  • Wor Monga

Pardew’s right, we certainly got lucky…but that was because he (and others) left the club…but that was seeing as eventually we were lucky to end up with a real coaching/ manager who knew how to set up a team properly, and organise them into an effective unit (using proper players) in which every one in the squad will understand his role, and then perform it, as specified to him, on the training ground…

…some might not be the best quality, in the PL, but they are proving against the doubters (on this site) that they are able live with the opposition both at home and away!!!

  • Kevin Brown

Just got one word for him [email protected]!!!

  • steve pearce

Go back to putting windows in big buildings and then boring everyone to death pointing out every one to your team mates. This actually happened every time we traveled to London to play…

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Pardew is an A Grade prat and just shows the mentality of those at “Evil Sports” who have the audacity to put people like him on the screen.
The way Andy Hinchliffe was constantly harking back to the Yedlin incident was sickening in the extreme !
