These 5 year Premier League red card stats prove Newcastle fans aren’t paranoid

These new Premier League statistics have inadvertently given backing to Newcastle fans certain that they aren’t just paranoid.

Yesterday, we highlighted how 15 Newcastle players had received red cards in Premier League matches since the last time an opposition play had been sent off v NUFC.

You have to go back to January 2014 for that last instance.

On top of that scarcely believable statistic, new ones have been published on Tuesday.

These detail how many red cards all clubs have received in the last five years of Premier League football and what percentage of matches have been won by teams when reduced to 10 men.

The stats show (see table below), that Middlesbrough are most successful when reduced to 10 men, winning 100% of them, though they have only played one Premier League game in the last 5 years when having somebody sent off, so not the greatest stat!

Have to admit though that Manchester City winning seven of the 10 games when they have had a red card, is pretty impressive.

Arsenal next best with a 44% win rate when reduced to 10 men.

As for Newcastle, they come 17th, having only won 14% of matches when getting a red card in this time period.

You would have thought they might d better, considering just how often it (a red card) happens!

Yes, even though NUFC missed one of these last five years of Premier League action, they still easily top the table when it comes to having players sent off.

Newcastle have had 22 red cards and the next highest total is 18.

Liverpool have had nine players sent off in five years, Newcastle have had six sent off against Liverpool alone, and that is in only four seasons worth of Premier League action.

Below we have listed all 22 of the red cards Newcastle have received in the Premier League in this five year spell.

This table compiled by bet-bonuscode.co.uk:
