The list of the 100 worst ever Premier League Strikers is now complete.

During the international break, The Mail have been counting down the worst ever PL forwards from 100 to 1 and Newcastle United have been proudly represented…

They have finally got down to the top 20 and NUFC have two included at the pinnacle of rubbish strikers in the past 25 years of the English top tier,

Xisco makes it in at number 11, a Dennis Wise/Mike Ashley disaster.

Whilst at number four in the list, Newcastle managed to find a World Cup winning centre-forward who was useless, Kenny Dalglish bringing Stephane Guivarc’h to Tyneside.

11 – Xisco

The mystery of Xisco’s time at Newcastle is perhaps summed up by the fact he was seventh choice striker behind Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka, Peter Løvenkrands, Shola Ameobi and Andy Carroll.

Kevin Keegan left soon after, incensed at the signing of a player behind his back. And yet despite that firepower, Newcastle ended the season relegated.

After scoring on his debut, in a 2-1 defeat by Hull, it all went downhill. It took until January 2013 for his contract to be terminated.

4 – Stephane Guivarc’h

France proved you didn’t need a striker to win the World Cup when Stephane Guivarc’h toiled on his own to no reward throughout their triumph in 1998.

Kenny Dalglish must have seen something in the Auxerre striker, who had enjoyed success in his own country, when he paid £3.5m to bring him to Newcastle.

He made a bright start, scored on his debut against Liverpool, but then Dalglish was sacked soon after.

Ruud Gullit arrived and promptly got rid of him in November.

It was actually Sunderland who were credited with the very worst PL striker, Jozy Altidore at number one.

The Mackems having the third highest number of players in this list of worst ever Premier League strikers.

However, standing proudly in top spot is…Newcastle United.

The Mail credit us with 14 in the list but having gone through the 100 a few times, there are definitely only 13 and they are listed below.

Man United have surely had 5 stinkers in their time!

Guivarc’h is the biggest mystery. How he managed to get a place in that very good French team is beyond human comprehension.

    Slow news day?

Andreas Anderson was the strangest buy. i remember watching Football Italia and James Richardson saying with surprise that Anderson was starting for Milan which was a very clumsy attempt at putting him in the shop window, he went on to say they had more chance by not putting him in the shop window. Dogleash had already bought badly by that stage and I just knew it would be us who were daft enough to think that if he plays for Milan, he must be ok.

I dread to think how many players we would have on the list if they went back 50 years. We can console ourselves with knowing we had the best striker of the last 25 years.

True. Frank Pingel was an absolute cracker, wasn’t he?
