The Rafa Benitez Brighton Press Conference has taken place on Friday lunchtime.

The United boss in a good mood understandably, with nine points from the last nine.

Rafa sees this as no fluke though, declaring ‘Three wins in a row is not a surprise when you see them training.’

A point or better would be a great return on Sunday to keep the momentum going.

First quotes from the Rafa Benitez Brighton Press Conference:

“It is important to keep confidence high but ensure we don’t have overconfidence. The team is working hard with very good team spirit.

“Three wins in a row is not a surprise when you see them training. In terms of performances, it is more or less what I was expecting.

“I’m not concentrating on the table. I’m just thinking about how we can get three points against Brighton.

“It will be totally different (to last season). It will be tough. At the same time, we have confidence that we can get three points.

“All the staff tell me how good Chris Hughton is as a person. I have a good relationship with him.

“Tim Krul knew our decision. Brighton announce now but we knew before and I wish him all the best. We have enough keepers.

“(Promotion) is different for both clubs. Newcastle have been in the premier league before and for Brighton, they have nothing to lose.”

“We are in a good position, we have momentum. We have confidence that we can get three points and they will have the same feeling.

“It’s good for us being on TV but not fans. It shows how good they are. It’s really impressive how they travel and support the team.

“We have even more responsibility to win for them. Hopefully we get three points and they come back home with smiling faces.

“It’s more or less the same situation with injuries. Lejeune is still having treatment and Haïdara and Dummett are not available.

“We have been talking about how players should react when they are dropped. A great example is Jamaal Lasclles – players need to prove they should play.”
