Despite beating West Ham 3-0 the game before, in the build-up to the Swansea game last weekend, Michael Owen predicted an easy victory for the home side.

On top of that, the former Newcastle players also said ‘I really fear for Newcastle and the signs from manager Rafa Benitez aren’t good’.

A week later and in the top half of the Premier League after making it consecutive wins, Newcastle’s health, like that of the manager’s, is looking very much on the up.

Nobody is suggesting NUFC are world beaters but the results and performances against the Swans and the Hammers, suggests Newcastle should be able to give most PL clubs a decent game.

Michael Owen though once again doesn’t see a win for Newcastle, so a near three year record won’t be broken.

It is actually just short of three years since United won three Premier League games on the bounce.

It was under our old mate and chancer, Alan Pardew, a disastrous start to the season then saw Pardew somehow fluke a three game winning run, which then became four and finally, five.

Between 18 October 2014 and 22 November 2014, NUFC beat Leicester, Spurs, Liverpool, West Brom and QPR.

Alan Pardew won only two other Premier League matches with Newcastle that season and jumped ship to Crystal Palace, leaving it to John Carver to have the honour of trying to relegate the club once again under Mike Ashley. Despite only three wins in 19 PL games under Carver, Newcastle stayed up on the final day with that Jonas Gutierrez inspired 2-0 win over West Ham.

It would be a massive boost for everybody connected with Newcastle if they overcome Stoke but Michael Owen thinks a draw is on the cards.

Since losing to Everton on the opening day, Stoke are unbeaten in four games (all competitions) and that includes beating Arsenal and becoming the first to take points off Man Utd this season with that exciting 2-2 draw last weekend.

A draw wouldn’t be a disaster but another three points to welcome Rafa back to the dugout would be very nice.

Michael Owen:

“Newcastle v Stoke.

“The hosts will be looking to win three PL games on the run for the first time in nearly three years.

“But Stoke are unbeaten in their last four and will be hard to beat.

“I believe they will get a point at St James’s Park.”

Michael Owen recommendation: Game to finish in a draw at 9/4.”

I predict that nobody will give a flying Donald Duck what this sawn-off walking sick note has to say. Instead of harping on about his ex-club where he spent most of his time “injured” he should issue an apology for wasting the 17 million we paid for him. He should shove his head up the ass of one of his race horses so we don’t have to hear from him again!

    • Paul Patterson

      £17m and the rest..

      Love it !

What did his horses do to upset you? lol

A fair enough prediction if that’s what he thinks.
I predict 89-0 with Joselu scoring 84 of them and Lascelles scoring a hat trick of headers, exactly like the one he scored at Swansea.
One will be scored by Elliot which will be a fluke due to a freak 80 mph gust of wind carrying his clearance over the head of the unsuspecting Stoke keeper.
And an own goal by Wimmer.
I also predict a 10 minute stoppage due to a mole burrowing up and coming out of the centre circle,

It’s only a prediction and I could be wrong about the exactness of the scoreline and even the mole, but 3 points is 3 points and I’d be well happy to predict that we get them. .

    • Peaky Magpie

      Don’t be bloody ridiculous,…….. Joselu will get 86 !

      • ghostrider

I know, I admit I did go a little bit overboard. Let’s go with your prediction, it looks much more achievable.

Happy for all the pundits and other teams supporters to continue to write us off each week. Let them underestimate us and we can quietly continue to improve under the radar.

Why is he sniffing his finger on that photo ? Howay Michael, where’s it been ??

scum i hate this greedy plastic captain worst ever

  • Oooh bobbi fleckman

Most contributors on here have been rubbishing the players since last May, betting that we’ll be relegated yet, as soon as someone else predicts less than 3 pts, you go nuts.

  • gallowgate26

Owen is a mercenary with no allegiance to any club. Of course he would predict a draw. He’s played for both clubs after all. How can you play for Liverpool and Manchester United? It’s like playing for Arsenal and Tottenham.

    • Peter

Sol Campbell played for both Arsenal and Spurs, as did Pat Jennings….

  • Monkseaton Magpies

We should have won the game last time we met at home but Butler played a blinder.
However think we will have two much for them this time and will win with two goals to spare.
How True Faith and George from the Times will cope with the result is any ones guess perhaps another protest at the Irish centre.

  • Alreet

I can see a good win in this one. Same tactics as we did against west ham should sort em.

Unchanged side please rafa. They are doin the biz. Give the boy murphy a few starts and he will be bossing their wing back.
