Who will be the Newcastle  top scorer in the Premier League this season?

Six goals so far in the five matches but has that given us any real indication?

The roll of honour at this point is goals for Ciaran Clark, Christian Atsu, Josulu and Aleksandar Mitrovic, as well as two for Jamaal Lascelles.

Joselu has started well at Newcastle with his all round game but despite his goal against West Ham, he doesn’t look a natural.

The trio of missed chances against Stoke City maybe reminding us of why at the age of 27 he still hasn’t scored 10 or more league goals in a season in any top division.

Mitro has one but with yet another ban and Rafa Benitez still not appearing to see him as a first choice striker, hard to weigh his chances up.

As for Dwight Gayle, expected to be the main man this season after 23 goals despite only 26 Championship starts last season, he has made a poor start and then been left out with hamstring/confidence issues.

In the betting below, the fact that Atsu is ahead of Perez in the betting tells you how little goal threat the Spaniard has provided this season.

Not sure how many will be backing Mohamed Diame…

I really can’t decide between the top trio in the betting, who do you fancy?

Paul Dummett will likely score more than SloMo

    • Peter Stabler

I’ll settle for one like he got in February at Brighton.

  • Sean Lynch

I expect our top scorer to be someone who currently doesn’t play for the club.
Wonder what the odds would be on that?

    • Jimblag23

Facundo Ferreyra scored in the champions league the other day.
      Cheeky January bid?

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Iv`e watched Joselu in every game he`s played & for me, he`s here, there & everywhere but can`t finish & gentlemen that is why he was only £5m.
he may well turn it around but i won`t be putting money on that one

    • Jimblag23

He’s a striker that would be ok in the days of 442.

  • Alex

I’ll put my money on Ritchie – half a dozen from open play and a handful of penalties should see him get around 10.

In a season where it looks like goals will be spread around, I reckon 10-ish might just be enough to take the crown.

    • Clarko

In 44 Premier League appearances he has scored 4 goals, do you not think you’re being a little too optimistic?

      • Geordiegiants

It’s an opinion, not a fact so p!ss off.

        • Clarko

It’s my opinion that 10 goals is too optimistic, you utter moron.

          • Mike Adam

Back to insulting each other gentlemen?

          • Clarko

Again, why is that aimed at me?

  • The Nut Job

Gayle will be top scorer if he isn`t sold in January

  • Georgia Peter

In Joselu, my mind goes back to Supermack’s partner John Tudor. Very similar in many ways as he scored a few, but always missed a boatload . I say similar because he took so many half chances and invariably missed most of them. He was however, the scorer of some crackers so don’t hold yer breath guys, I suspect he has still a great deal to offer and I’ll be the first to admit that i’m wrong.

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

He`s hasn`t any composure & his 1st touch leaves a lot to be desired, so don`t hold your breath waiting for him to score as he`s never scored over 6 in a season

  • lukegte

Lascelles! He’s unstoppable with Ritchie taking the corners. I’d love him to get in to double figures

    • Jimblag23

I just put £300 on him hitting 35.

  • Leazes Ender

    Only idiots gamble.

    • Clarko

      Right up your alley then.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

      • Paul Busby

      • Geordiegiants

Thought you had f ucked off to play with your hammer.

  • Lord

What are the odds on any player in the squad getting double figures?

    • MichaelMaximusMoose

      A Lot

  • Jimblag23

If I had to put money on it I’d probably still go for Gayle, he’ll get tap ins even if he only gets 20 mins here and there.

  • Steve Pearce

If Who Flung Dung has his way, we will all be nuked by North Korea long before the end of the season anyway so all this is pointless. Especially seeing he sent some envoys to Sunderland with a view to setting up a puppet regime there….
