Alan Shearer was loving it after watching Newcastle 2 Stoke 1.
The 2-1 final scoreline didn’t do justice to how well United played, as they should have been out of sight by half-time.
After a quiet opening 15 minutes of getting into their stride, Newcastle took control and carved out chance after chance.
Joselu could and should have had a hat-trick, whilst a handful of other Newcastle players wasted very good chances.
Atsu opened the scoring after 19 minutes with a volley from a brilliant Ritchie cross.
Then it was Ritchie again with a corner, Jamaal Lascelles once again producing a towering header to win the game in the 68th minute from a right wing corner.
The NUFC legend responding after the game via his Twitter account:
“Toon toon black and white army.
“Well done skipper Jamaal Lascelles.”
With other results going their way, Newcastle were catapulted into the Champions League places.
Whether they remain fourth depends on how Tottenham and Arsenal get on in their matches.
