Alan Shearer was loving it after watching Newcastle 2 Stoke 1.

The 2-1 final scoreline didn’t do justice to how well United played, as they should have been out of sight by half-time.

After a quiet opening 15 minutes of getting into their stride, Newcastle took control and carved out chance after chance.

Joselu could and should have had a hat-trick, whilst a handful of other Newcastle players wasted very good chances.

Atsu opened the scoring after 19 minutes with a volley from a brilliant Ritchie cross.

Then it was Ritchie again with a corner, Jamaal Lascelles once again producing a towering header to win the game in the 68th minute from a right wing corner.

The NUFC legend responding after the game via his Twitter account:

“Toon toon black and white army.

“Well done skipper Jamaal Lascelles.”

With other results going their way, Newcastle were catapulted into the Champions League places.

Whether they remain fourth depends on how Tottenham and Arsenal get on in their matches.

Rafa’s suggesting the fans are thinking of Europe ? Not us Rafa we’re perfectly grounded not delusional as all the others tell us. Get to 40 points and then breathe out!

    • Paul Patterson

      Spot on.

    • Haitchdee

My sentiments exactly. Nearly a quarter of the way.

      • Oldgeordie

        Good thinking

40 points please and as many shutouts as possible

  • Damon Horner

Not bad so far considering how many of our fans wrote us off and considered our team embarrassing.

    Howay the lads!

Didn’t look too clever after 2 straight losses. I’m as happy as any toon fan with three straight wins and Brighton next that got nothing out of us last season home and away, but will simply never trust fatty while he has the chance to ruin everything positive as shown to be his favourite past time over 10 rotten years.

I just don’t like how it’s all about him. We could win the league and all talk will be about how Ashley tried to wreck it. Even the players are used as political pawns by some fans in the war against Ashley.

    Unused subs Shelvey? Yedlin???????????
Shots at goal (Stoke) 10 with 13 of them on target ??????????????
    Sack the proof reader

Another excellent result. Keep chalking up the results, assure safety asap this season and build from there. Onwards and upwards.

Stoke were a good team can not see many teams playing as well as them up here
and we still should have won six two. They will be top ten team so where does that leave us. Need a striker to put the ball in the net perhaps Gayle might get a few.
