On Friday morning we are asking the question – Which 5 Newcastle players are most important for this season?

Only five matches have so far gone by but already this Premier League season has thrown up plenty of surprises.

Both in terms of results and the players who have and haven’t impressed so far.

Looking over the course of the whole season though, which 5 current Newcastle players do you see as most key to this season?

Listed below are the entire 25 man Premier League senior squad, plus Mikel Merino and Freddie Woodman who still qualify as Under 21 players.

From these 27 choices, please give us your 5 most important Newcastle players and we will then bring you the results later.

  • Steve Pearce

September is far too early for this, also there could be new players arriving in January. So maybe you should have another go around Easter….

    • Geordie-7676

All you do is p**s and moan about every single article on this site…..why don’t you attempt a level of restraint for a change, whereby if you aren’t expressing a valid opinion that may add value to a debate/discussion/NUFC related opinion you just keep schtum? Any chance?

      • Wor Lass

Steve showed a lot of restraint here – he hasn`t even mentioned the “steaming bag of southern pus”. We`re all entitled to our opinions – except anyone who disagrees with Clarko the Great, that is.

    • nevfur

It is a talking point on who people think will be most important this season. Most of it will be over by Easter so a bit pointless waiting till then.

    • Alex

So it is asked, “…..who do you see as the 5 key Newcastle players this season?” at Easter. Wtf? That would be asking who you see as the 5 key players for the last 5 games of the season. Erm………..

  • Eddy O

I think Hayden simply because if he gets injured we don’t have a good replacement. Mbemba too is crucial as he can play left back or DM. Every other player bar Ritchie has a decent backup

    • Paul Patterson

He’s so overlooked by many. Very important in the middle.

  • Paul Patterson

Based on the opening games, I’ve gone Clark, Lascelles, Hayden, Merino, Ritchie.

    • Wor Lass

Ditto but not in that order.

    • Vodkamagpie

Atsu aswell, Murphy didn’t do much in Swansea game

  • Steve Smith

I got slated for questioning Shelvey, Gayle and Mitrovic’s importance to the team!

  • TheNutJob

Hands up the nitwits that voted for SloMo

  • Natturner26

I picked Elliot, Dummett, Atsu, Perez, and Lascelles because it seems all will play a big role and I’m not fully confident in their abilities. They all have the ability to look great and look terrible. The amount of points we get will be greatly affected by how this group of players plays.

  • steve

Lascelles simply because he’s the captain.
Shelvey and Ritchie as our two best players.
Merino because he looks like an unbelievable find and Mitrovic because if he screws the head he’s our most likely forward to score goals at this level.
