Tony Cottee has graded Newcastle United’s performance against Tottenham on Sunday.

In a new feature, Sky Sports asked Cottee to give all 20 Premier League clubs a grade, based purely on this weekend’s performance.

These are the grades he has handed out:

A grade – Burnley, Man Utd, Huddersfield

B grade – Tottenham, West Brom, Man City, Everton, Arsenal

B- grade – Newcastle United, Watford

C grade – Swansea, Southampton, Liverpool, Leicester, Brighton, Bournemouth

D grade – Stoke

E grade – Chelsea, Crystal Palce, West Ham

A bit of a surprise maybe that Tony Cottee has rated Newcastle’s display so highly, as Swansea, Liverpool and Southampton all picked up a point but got a lower grade.

Whilst Watford scored three, including a last minute equaliser against Liverpool, yet only got the same as Newcastle.

It was though a spirited first half display from NUFC and here Tony Cottee gives his reasoning for both Newcastle and Tottenham’s grades.

‘Newcastle – Grade B-

“By all accounts, Newcastle held their own until Jonjo Shelvey’s dismissal.

“It’s a poor result but you’ve got to factor in the sending off against a good Tottenham team.”

‘Tottenham – Grade B

“They didn’t play overly well but had a lot of chances towards the end.

“To return to the scene of their heavy defeat of the 2015/16 season makes a good result even sweeter.”
