Newcastle v Nottingham Forest player ratings from fans – Sifting through the wreckage
The results of the Newcastle v Nottingham Forest player ratings by fans.
Two very good goals, one not good enough overall performance.
Only the two goalscorers managed to get a rating above 5.0.
Rolando Aarons was clearly Newcastle’s best player on the night and he capped a very good performance with a right foot shot into the top corner to level at 2-2, earning a 7.3 rating. He also got an assist for Newcastle’s other goal.
Next best was Aleksandar Mitrovic (5.9), a very good strike in the third minute but unlike Aarons he didn’t really carry that through into his overall display.
After that though it is a sorry state, with only Chancel Mbemba (5.0) really coming out of it with any kind of credit, having to try and deal with the massive problem that was Grant Hanley.
One of the worst defensive displays ever seen, saw Hanley (2.2) look a total shambles. Puffing and panting as he struggled to mark anybody, grabbing at players as he couldn’t catch them – just as well he wasn’t even really fast enough to do that or else a red card would have been inevitable.
Jamie Sterry (3.3) and Mohamed Diame (3.4) were seen as next worst, looking really poor on the night.
Whilst Gamez (4.0), Saivet (4.3) and Darlow (4.3) were also part of a chaotic night at St James Park..
Jacob Murphy (4.6) had some decent moments as he came into the game late on, whilst Barlaser (4.7) was steady.
The subs offered little to change things, with Matt Ritchie (4.6) the best of an average/poor bunch.
