Newcastle scouts were in attendance at the Wankdorf stadium last week.

The match was a Champions League play-off between Young Boys and CSKA Moscow.

On the night the first leg was decided by a dramatic own goal from Kasim (full name Kasim Adams Nuhu), the Young Boys centre-back, in the 91st minute.

This is the player who Newcastle scouts were there to watch, according to Swiss publication Blick.

The 22 year old Ghanaian played 26 times for Mallorca in La Liga before going on loan to Young Boys last season.

Along with Kevin Mbabu, the pair turned their loan arrangements into permanent moves this summer.

The 6ft 3 central defender was playing alongside Mbabu in the defence against CSKA Moscow and they play the second leg on Wednesday away from home, with a dramatic turnaround needed.

Whether Newcastle are interested in a right footed centre-back is open to question but who knows what potential activity, in and out the club, we may see in the final 10 days of this transfer window?

      we need a right back

      • Geordiegiants

    Wankdorf stadium 😂 I’m a child.

    • Paul Patterson

So am I, but you’re a quicker child than me.. 😂

Wankdorf Stadium. Is this a joke?

  • Paul Patterson

Seriously? If Rafa wants That Praet lad and needs a player to move on first, just pay Haidara off, take the hit and move on.
If he has a goalkeeper in mind, waive a fee for Krul and move on. They only have one year left on their contracts, as do Gamez and Good.
It may cost a bit but that’s where we are at at present. It’s not hard.

So we are interested in a player who mullers in a last minute own goal at the Pulled off stadium? Meanwhile Brighton and Burnley strengthen buying new CFs. You couldn’t make it up
