Michael Owen “The natives will be restless at St James Park”
Michael Owen has came up with an interesting (no, honestly) comment.
The former Newcastle United loiterer, giving us the fact that so far in his career, Rafa Benitez has never lost three Premier League matches in a row.
After checking it up, he’s not wrong.
In six seasons at Liverpool, six months at Chelsea, as well as those initial two months at St James Park, the Newcastle boss has never lost more than two PL games in a row.
It is a remarkable record and it will be a nightmare for Rafa and the rest of us if Newcastle break his proud record.
Michael Owen bottles it when it comes to predicting who will win between Newcastle and West Ham, saying it is ‘a difficult game to call’.
What he does give a prediction/tip for, is both teams to score on Saturday.
Newcastle haven’t done too bad at the back but with Rafa confirming at his press conference on Friday afternoon that Lejeune, Yedlin and Dummett will still be missing, it doesn’t exactly help. Karl Darlow has also picked up an injury, whilst Aarons and Gayle are both doubts as well.
The silver lining for Newcastle is that West Ham have conceded more goals (seven) than anybody else so far in the opening games, so surely NIFC have to have a real go at putting the visitors under sustained pressure tomorrow.
Whilst West Ham won at Cheltenham, Newcastle were losing at home to Nottingham Forest, which will have helped to mean ‘the natives will be restless at St James Park’, according to Michael Owen.
These are trying times but hopefully manager, players and fans can come together to get the first goal(s) and win over the line, of this Premier League season.
Michael Owen looks at Newcastle v West Ham for BetVictor:
“A disappointing start to the PL season for both sides although the Hammers have faced two difficult looking away trips to Old Trafford and St Mary’s.
“Rafa Benitez has never lost three successive games in the Premier League but the natives will be restless at St James Park, having seen the Magpies dumped out of the League Cup by Forest midweek.
“This is a difficult game to call although I do expect to see both sides find the back of the net.”
