Newcastle fans will discover their League Cup opponents later today.
All but two of the first round League Cup ties (see below) have already been decided this week, with matches on Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Grimsby v Derby was abandoned after 19 minutes due to very heavy rain, meaning it needs to be replayed, whilst tonight Sunderland travel to Bury.
That game is live on Sky and then following that outcome (extra-time and penalties if not decided in 90 minutes), the draw will be made for the second round.
Newcastle United will be in that draw tonight and play that second round match sometime in the week commencing Monday 21 August.
Looking through the results, Accrington Stanley beating Preston (League Two v Championship) is pretty much the biggest upset so far, hopefully Bury will add to that tonight.
