Mark Warburton thinks Newcastle are “A team with magnificent pedigree in the Premier League”
Mark Warburton has been looking ahead to Wednesday night.
The Forest boss saying he sees all of his squad as first team players, rather than some ‘being on the fringes’.
He has indicated that he will use his squad and make changes from a first team that made it three wins out of four in the Championship on Saturday, beating promotion favourites Middlesbrough 2-1.
Newcastle fans waiting to see whether Daryl Murphy makes a quick return to St James Park, having scored three goals already.
As for their opponents, Mark Warburton says that he is looking forward to visiting a ‘top class venue’ and facing ‘a top class manager in Rafa Benitez’.
The Forest manager also believes Newcastle United are ‘a team with magnificent pedigree in the Premier League’.
Let’s hope he is saying that in a year’s time as well.
“It is another competition and you want to go as far as you can.
“We have a long association with the trophy as a club and we will go there with a strong squad and look to win the game.
“We know it is a very tough test; it is a top-class venue, a team with magnificent pedigree in the Premier League managed by a top-class manager in Rafa Benitez.
“We know what we face but we are in good form.
“You can only field 11 players and if you have a squad of 23, 24 or 25, their job is to work hard every single day and every player has done that.
“Their work ethic, commitment and application has been first-class.
“Sometimes you have to be patient; sometimes you get your rewards early on and sometimes you have to wait until Christmas. It is important that when your chance does come, you have put the work in to be in a position to maximise that opportunity.
“I don’t see those players on the bench as being on the fringes.
“Against Shrewsbury we had Eric Lichaj, who was the Player of the Season last year, Mustapha Carayol, who was outstanding at the end of last season, and Jason Cummings who is a top talent, and in my mind these are all first-team players and we will use the squad and field a very strong team.”
