Lomana LuaLua turns up at South Shields

Lomana LuaLua exited Newcastle United in 2004 after an interesting spell at the club.

A combination of occasional brilliance, routinely erratic, but superb celebration somersaults, meant Newcastle fans never quite knew what you were getting.

The past 13 years have seen the DR Congo international feature into double figures in terms of clubs he has played at, as diverse as Portsmouth and Turkey, Blackpool and the United Arab Emirates.

News on Tuesday though from Non-League Daily that Lomana LuaLua has turned up in South Shields.

Non-League Daily reporting that LuaLua is currently training with the Evo-Stik League First Division North new-boys South Shields.

His last club was Şanlıurfaspor but he has been a free agent since leaving the Turkish second tier club last year.

The report says that as yet it is unclear whether Lomana LuaLua will join the South Shields, who face Sunderland U23s on Wednesday night, before rounding off their pre-season campaign with a trip to Whitby Town on Saturday.

South Shields visit Trafford on the opening day of the Evo-Stik League season on Saturday 12th August.
