In an interesting move, Rafa Benitez has agreed to do a question and answer session with Newcastle supporters.

The event will take place in 15 days time on Thursday 27 July, just over two weeks before the season starts.

Needless to say, the talk-in will be interesting regardless, but unless there is significant transfer activity in the meantime, it will be VERY interesting.

Newcastle United official announcement:

‘Rafa Benítez will be the special guest at the first of a series of supporter events at St. James’ Park’s NINE Bar during the 2017/18 season.

Rafa will appear at the first of the monthly ‘question and answer’-style evenings at 7pm on Thursday 27 July, with a number of legendary Newcastle United personalities set to follow over the course of the campaign.

The events will be hosted by renowned radio broadcaster Mick Lowes.

Widely regarded as the ‘Voice of Newcastle United’, Mick only recently hung up his microphone after 25 years of commentating on Magpies games.

Tickets will go on sale to all members and season ticket holders from 10am on Thursday 13 July and can be purchased at, by calling 0844 372 1892 (calls cost 7p per minute plus your network access charge) or in person at the St. James’ Park Box Office.

Tickets are priced at £15 and will be available on a first come first served basis.

Please note that this event is only open to supporters aged 18+.

Subject to availability, tickets will go on general sale at a later date priced at £20.’

It gives Charnley 2 weeks to pull his finger out and stop messing about. If there are no signings then Rafa will have some serious questions to answer and his answers may not be what Ashey wants to hear

  • Steve Smith

I imagine it’s less about making money out of people asking questions and more about stopping 50,000 people turning up.

On the flip side, you can bet anyone paying entry is going to want to get their money’s worth in questions.

Mark Douglas is absolutely deluded if he thinks there’s a Rafalution happening!

  • Thefootballerwhocouldfly

Mercenaries… no signings and Rafa placed in a similar situation to Parsnip trying to placate fans for incompetence of Penfold & Ashley! All for the price of £15

    • Leazes Ender

You can read about the Rafalution in Mark Douglas’s book….. inside the Rafalution’….. unfortunately Rafa can’t make the book launch as he’s washing his hair.
