Newcastle United fought back from a disappointing opening Monday night defeat to County Antrim, to claim a place in tonight’s Premier section semi-final of the Super Cup NI.

The NUFC side are taking part in the Super Cup NI this week in Northern Ireland in the Premier Section for Under 17s.

Wednesday night saw Newcastle beat Japanese side Komazawa 2-0 at Scroggy Road in Limavady to clinch the semi-final spot.

Irish defender Oisin McEntee headed NUFC into the lead on 13 minutes with then Matty Longstaff adding a second-half penalty.

In between those two matches, Tuesday had seen United get a 9-0 win over Beijing Morning Star United.

Newcastle’s semi-final in the Northern Ireland youth tournament against Ghanaian side Right To Dream on Thursday night (19:00 BST) will be streamed live on the BBC Sport website.

In the other semi-final, Chilean side O’Higgins will play Mexican side Club America.

The winners of the two semis will then meet on Friday, whilst the losers contest the 3rd/4th place play-off.
