The Newcastle team v Bradford has been revealed for the third friendly of pre-season.

The hosts are ahead of NUFC in terms of preparation for the new season, with League One kicking off a week earlier than the Premier League.

Jonjo Shelvey captains the side tonight and perhaps the biggest news is that Matt Ritchie plays his first friendly after recovering from injury.

Karl Darlow is once again missing from the 22 involved tonight after having come in for 25 minutes on the pitch at Preston.

Of the four summer signings, Lejeuen and Atsu start, Murphy and Manquillo on the bench.

This is who Rafa Benitez starts with:

Elliot, Yedlin, Lejeune, Clark, Dummett, Atsu, Shelvey (c), Hayden, Ritchie, Pérez, Gayle

and the Subs:

For what we have at the minute it looks like the first team. I hope we are going to be impressed.

    • Clarko

Impressed? The only player who can impress is Lejeune, it’s the same team we have watched all last season.

      • nevfur

At least he seems to be impressing again. Still struggling to score. Need attacking signings

I feel the need to take a moment to remind every fool losing their [email protected] mind over transfers that the last time we were promoted Newcastle only brought in 6 new players, 2 of which (Tiote and Ben Arfa) regularly contributed, during the summer window. And that side finish 12th (and sold off Carroll half way through).

The best players the team had going forward (Cabaye, Ba, Cisse) weren’t even on the books until summer 2011.
