Leeds fans are wondering who will be replacing Garry Monk and now have been confronted by the possibility of Alan Pardew.

Out of work for six months now, the former Palace and Newcastle boss has seen his odds tumble for the job at Elland Road.

Prepared to work at a crazy club under a Director of Football, Alan Pardew is seen by many neutrals as an ideal candidate.

Though not too sure how many Leeds fans will agree with that…

Out of work and with no compensation to be paid, Pardew has that going for him as well.

The dramatic shortening of adds sees Alan Pardew competing with Claudio Ranieri as the bookies favourite for the job, both around the 3/1 mark.

To go from just missing out on the play-offs and the new sense of optimism Garry Monk brought…to Alan Pardew, would be a tough one to take for our friends from Leeds.

Comments from Leeds fans via various message boards:

‘Hate to ruin everyone’s day but Alan Pardew’s odds have tumbled.’

‘Please no, not him…crazy:

Christ, he’s such a……I’d prefer anyone to him.’

‘I concur. As I’ve said many times, I’m seriously concerned about the managerial situation. It needs to be sorted sooner rather than later. I still feel we’ll end up appointing a manager with a rubbish record and a poor CV – and if that happens then we’re back to square one.’

Rather have Pardew then Pearson, Rather have Pep or Karanka than both.’

‘As long as its not Steve McClaren.’

‘It just can’t be McLaren or Moyes for that matter.’

‘Oh no not them either, how do these guys keep getting jobs.’

‘I don’t want any of the usual blaggers who’ve been on the circuit for yonks, either. There’s a reason they keep getting fired.’

Pardew just overtaken Clotet as favourite on Oddschecker….please NO!!!!’

‘Pardew…Lets really mess it up and get graham souness as his assistant.’

‘No no no not Pardew.’

Pardew’s face doesn’t fit but he has quite a good record despite being a bit of a jockey.

I`m sure the Palace fans would 2nd that

  • Toon fan

The Pardew bounce aye? Long-term the Pardew sink.

Not so long ago we were appointing Hockaday , Redfearn, Milanic, McDermott and Evans – So Alan Pardew would be a great improvement – Not my choice to be honest but he has character and a good knowledge of the game …
Frank De Boer was mentioned yesterday !!! – He would be an unbelievable acquisition

  • Waxi

Keep well away. Even the palace fans turned on him and he was classed as one of them. It would be a massive step back if he became Leeds manager.

Not Alan Pardew when you have other options like Renieri or Pep. Unless, you only have between Hockaday and Pardew..

Given that Monk was doing a pretty good job and had the fans on his side you would have to worry about why he left instead of trying to build on it for a push this coming season ? Rumour has it he couldn’t agree budget/tactics with the new owner and as he hasn’t instantly appeared at a new club that looks right ? Why would a manager of any pedigree take it ? Pardew in for half a season then sacked (with another payday) for decline in form and a new manager sought, pretty much how they were before Monk took over. Why do these people buy football clubs they have no previous association with, baffling ?

  • Phil K

Yep, all these supporters of other clubs praise Pardew and attack Newcastle fans for wanting him out, but oh no – not to their club

  • MadMag83

He did alright at Southampton? Maybe his level is outside the Premier League

  • Paul Busby

Suppose they could chance it for that first season effect he seems to have, get promoted and then sack him before he can soak his rot into everything.

Poor bastards if he does go to Leeds or lands a job ever again. There is something very wrong with owners that keep giving the Pardews of the world the chance to drag clubs into a worse mess than the initial bit of light at the tunnel when he first arrives. Pure stupidity.
