Hartlepool fan and Sky Sports host, Jeff Stelling, hopes for better times ahead at Newcastle United.

He says everybody loves visiting Newcastle and welcomes United fans at their ground – but just hopes that this coming season the supporters will have a team to match them.

With only 15 days to go until pre-season begins, Jeff Stelling hopes that better quality players are due to be signing very shortly.

However, the TV presenter is confident Newcastle will ‘have a rock solid season’ when stepping back into the Premier League.

The biggest reason for that confidence of course is the presence of ‘top manager’ Rafa Benitez, Jeff Stelling saying that he knows him well and that he has got ‘a lot of time for’.

The first friendly (at Hearts) is now less than four weeks away and the Premier League season kick-off is now less than eight weeks in the future.

No signs of panic yet amongst Newcastle fans but a couple of substantial signings in the next week or so would be very welcome.

Jeff Stelling:

“Newcastle United is a massive football club,

“Everyone loves coming to St James Park, and everybody loves it when the Toon Army goes to their ground as well, because they’re fantastic fans.

“Let us hope this time they have got a fantastic team to go with them.

“They have got a top manager in Rafa Benitez, somebody I know and I have got a lot of time for.

“I would like to see them making a few signings in the pretty new future but I think they will have a rock solid season in the Premier League.”

Sky Sports colleague Jeff Stelling has walked his scheduled 15 marathons in 15 days, taking him from the St James Park in Exeter to the proper one in Newcastle, the purpose being to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK

Jeff Stelling has now completed his latest epic challenge but you can still donate HERE.
